We are getting some very nice calves from our newest bull. I am wondering if this calf would make someone a nice club calf. I would appreciate your opinions!

update 8/2  Took some pix today, he is a month older than in previous pix. (he just turned 4 mos).  Tried to show his neck more fairly... could certainly be cleaner, though the 3/4 inch hair on it does not help    (lol)

Additional thoughts/comments?  I appreciate unbiased appraisals.  Or at least seeing cattle through other peoples' biases instead of my own!  ;D

Not the greatest pictures ,but he definitely has plenty of top & rear end with pretty good hair and bone .....Kind of hard to see structure but looks good from what we got to see.... Looks like from your picture his main fault would be needs to be cleaner through the neck and could be a little high flanked ....Pretty good chance he would look good at County fair and one that will grow good and a good disposition .....IMO      from these pictures

Thank you for giving him a look.  He is probably a touch cleaner down the neck than the photo would suggest, but not as clean as some, for sure.

I think also the market you are shooting for should be considered. County fair level etc? Are there papers available on the calves?
He looks easy feeding but would like to see him on his own and profile. I like momma lots.

Thanks ALTSimmy and OH Breeder.  The calf is purebred Galloway, not registerable due to being a male non-conforming color. A show certificate can be issued for him by the AGBA.  I am just trying to get a feel for what 'level' of competition he should be marketed to as a show prospect, if at all.  I know what he will be worth as beef at age 2, but not what he might be worth as a started show prospect.  Once I can dial in on that a bit, it will help us decide which avenue to pursue.

I will get some pix taken that show him alone.
Thanks again for your help.

I added 2 more photos, taken today, and added commentary to my original post.
Thanks for the feedback.

I always like to see them in person BUT, he profiles pretty good. Clean made and has plenty of side. Looks like he will only get deeper with time. If the right person had him and fed and kept him. He could do well at some of the shows and certainly would make a good prospect for county level. I have seen people take cattle like this and little blood sweat and few tears make a nice one. (thumbsup)

"Interesting" is the word that comes to mind for me!

I like the foundation or basic tools that he brings.  Yes he may be a little throaty, but he will grow into it.

As a prospect, I have no idea...he will have to show as a Cross, or maybe show him as a Charolais if the show will classify based upon appearance and not papers???  I don't know if any prospect shows have a Galloway class?

To me, he is interesting because he is white and COULD have hair like no other.  He appears to be square and big topped, and sound.

I can't tell how big he is going to get, but I see a lot of potential in him as a fat steer!

I really have to agree with OH Breeder...It will all come down to his home!

Hard to tell from photos--video would be helpful in evaluating soundness.  Looks thick enough, easy doing.  Would like to see him cleaner through the brisket and neck.
