What products are good for putting finish and cover on a steer?  Our daugther's steer weighs 1170 with 101 days to county weigh in.  He has the bone and frame to carry 1350-1400# easy.  Right now he is getting 25 lbs./day of a 12% grower show feed (Hanby farms), along with Hide and Hair.  He is currently gaining 3 lbs. a day on 25 lbs. feed and looking for more.

High Octane Power Fuel works well,  sounds like you should be ok 81*3=243+1170=1413#.  Pwer Fuel will add finish without burnout.  If he has the appetite feed him.

Stabilized Rice bran.  Puts nice smooth even finish on em.  I buy mine at tractor supply.

As rackranch said you need to switch to a finisher, and add some corn as well! We added Glu-coat last year to both of our steers rations of finisher and corn, we believed it helped. If or when you switch his ration up I would do it subtly and ease him into to it, so he's less likely to go off feed. Also remember when he starts putting on fat his daily gain is going to drop because fat slows them down and fat doesn't weigh as much as muscle.
