I was looking over some bulls, trying to decide who I should breed to.  Of course I am avoiding the "cursed blood lines."  I am not a big fan of the cattle anyway.  Have any of you heard of know anything about the Colorado State cattle.  Select sires have a new bull name CSU Ram Nation.  His father is CSU Ram Time.  Any info would be appriciated. Here is a link to the Bull

Has he been tested for AM? I see Future Direction in the dam's side...

I would hope this one has been tested but K-dog is right it has  Future Direction 5321  (Reg: #12493607) on the dam side which is a carrier. This bull's sire is NBAR Primetime, which is a calving ease bull, which I question. For calving ease I know of too many of his calves needing assistance at birth. Plus he lacks muscle in the hind quarter.

For the fact he has Primetime as a father I wouldn't use him. But that's just my opinion.

When TH & PHA came know we had many rant & rave if a carrier bull was suggested. Curious why that's not happening here or is it too early in the game?

You will not like this answer, but I firmly believe that most angus breeders realize genetic defects are BAD, and therefore, accept test results which might have "been tested positive by an officailly approved test". (whatever THAT means).  A almost complete list has been on aaa site for quite some time.

As for the bull in question, I am not a fan. If you message me  of exactly what you are looking for Rustynail, I will try and give you first hand advice for what you specifically want to do.

I think its because some breeders don't know, some breeders cover it up, and some people don't know how th recessive defect deal works.

I would also be careful of the dam being out of Furture Direction too. I personally don't like this bull just by looking at his pedigree and picture but thats just my opinion. I think there are a lot better bulls out there than him. I am going to try Silveiras El Capitan 6510 this year. I think he is going to be a pretty good bull but this is his first year out. So I might be wrong. Cattle Visions has him if you want to look at his info.

Since you are looking in the Select Sires catalog anyway, have a look at the bull WAR Architect T040. Myron Benes from WAR reccomended him to me as a bull that would combine calving ease with style. If you really like style, check on a bull called Liquid Asset. JMO

apparently no one has seen the "AMF" acronym in the top right corner which means this bull is free of curly.

Ok so he is free, didn't see that ;D But I think that there are better angus bulls out there. But I guess it depends on what your going for. By the way what are you looking for in the calves?
