Has anyone used the Roto Brush?  Contemplating buying one and wondering if its worth the investment.

How often do you use it??

About every time you see your calf...so for me, probably 5-6 times a day, using a full battery's charge every time.  They work really really well though.

Really? I mean, I use a regular brush too, as well as a plastic scrubber....but to say that the roto brush doesnt work.....i don't know about that.  Once you get some hair growing with a regular brush, the rotobrush is 2nd to none for training it and promoting more growth.  You have to stick with it and use it every day consistantly to get results though, just like with any other hair growth tool or technique.

We used a roto brush all summer on our heifers and it really made there hair pop!!! would never do with out it. We also used it this fall on all of our calves for the sale i think it made a huge difference in the hair quality.

Roto Brush will help stimulate hair growth as well as train hair. We use the mix synthetic and rice root they last longer. If you are going to do it, they are on sale for about $26. it takes about 30 minutes to do all four legs inside and out. Use a light oil like Pink Oil or Final Bloom coat the hair with. It helps softens the shaft. Once you get the hair trained boning legs is a breeze. It will brush up without adhesive. The rice root is good for show day and is alittle stiffer. We have several reversable drills and rice roots. Some of the calves like it on their back. We had one calf that like it on his side. He would lean into it everytime we were done with his legs we would run it down his side as a "treat". He loved it. But they are all right, don't buy it if you aren't gonna use it. It is an every day process like everything else.

We got one last year.  Yes its good but it is a pain in the rear.  You have to really have the time to mess with it. IMO... time is always of the essence around here so I like the ole rice brush best.  If your calf hasn't got much hair it will get it trained quicker but I think if you've got good hair already you can do about the same by hand.  Oh yea... DON'T get it close to the tail you will have a mad calf and you'll be PO'd by the time u get it untangled.
Good Luck!

Its worth the money even if it was 100 bucks it would still be worth it. Just a little trick if you get it tangled, take the brush out of the chuck on the drill and then you can get it out really easy, its easier to just put an old sock over their tail though.

YES!YES!YES!  It makes such a diffence in the final look.  It is a lot of work and you have to stay with it but it will pay off.  Because of weather once, a winter show we attended became a "blow and Go" show.  Basically, you could not fit the calf...wash, blow, brush, show.  It was basically a blizzard so they decided just to do it this way...anyways....because we had roto brush trained the legs, they looked like they had been fitted because the hair naturally just jumped into place.....worth it.

the roto seemed to cut training time in half over a brush. It broke the hair quicker. But had to be used everyday

i have one and i agree with showstopper 95. We havent had good luck either

Just saying, from everything you two have posted and your screen name, seems like you show slick haired cattle.  Even if those beefmasters get 4" of hair  ::)

We use one.  Last year we bought it 2 wks before the shows.  It even worked well for us in just 2 wks. And we had no hair to work with last year! The hair we had all popped and looked good.  Definitely worth the money.  We got ours from Sullivan's also. :)

Which one do you prefer and why?  The rice root or synthetic plastic one?

olsen - lets talk slick. this is my monopoly that showed in july in tx at 105 degree heat. lets hear you say that i cant put hair on one. also here is my yellow jacket that hasnt been shown yet. i never said it didnt work, i said i havnt had good luck with our rotobrush. so go ahead and be scarcastic about it but for the heat it seems like i can put hair on one with a brush and a blower. sorry to highjack a topic but since somebody wants to be a smart elic. i guess i can prove my point to him

My 4hers used theirs everyday, and the hair still wouldn't do anything. Finally I looked at it, they had the drill going backwards. This could be why you guys aren't seeing any progress and the hair needs to be dry also.
