I have seen it work in invitro also conventional ET using ABS Angus semen.  I have heard nothing about the results from the Genex sexed semen.

Do NOT flush with sexed semen unless it is 5 ML some 2.5 ML works but the stuff ABS and GENEX carries is not made for flushing, unless you are going to use 7 or 8 straws per flush then maybe you will get a couple fertilized

I used female sexed semen flushing a shortie cow. Got 6 embryos. 12 or something like that were unfertilized. They used 3 straws.
So I guess I got the average 6-8 embryos using sexed semen. Don't see a problem with it.
My theory on flushing: If you can't afford to lose everything invested, DO NOT DO IT.

That's a very good point on flushing!  It's truly nothing more than a roll of the dice!  I've heard that if you use sexed semen you should use 12 straws.  However, I would be happy with the 6 that you got from 3 straws!

My results were similar to show heifer's but I would also say that I have only used sexed semen in one flush. We got 3 grade 1 embryos and 9 unfertilized. The ET center in Indiana who did this flush said that they see more unfertilized embryos when they flush with sexed semen. I am not sure if this is common, or if this was just their experience.
My ET vets here in Canada, have never urged me to use sexed semen. I have not even asked them for over a year now, so there could have been some major changes in technology since then. When I did ask about using sexed semen, they said that I would probably get fewer freezable embryos from each flush, so I have not been real excited about using it. I am sure I could sell sexed heifer embryos for more dollars, but as for the embryos I implant myself, I don't really care as much as I used to, as to the sex of the calves that are born. Good bull calves sell for as much or more than good heifer calves here.

We just finished a flush using sexed DF Tuscaloosa.  We had 8 #1's 3 #2's  only one infertile.  The semen was 5ml.
With good quality semen the results should be good.

From what little research I've seen, you will reduce the number of fertilized eggs. So if you have a cow that normally produces say 20 good eggs, you will cut that # in half with sexed semen to 10 eggs. So by the law of average you are going to end up with the same number of females or bulls depending on which sexed semen you use versus the normal semen. So it comes down to how bad you don't want the other sex.

Not sure on the private held clubby bulls, but just got done talking to an Accelerated rep and he said all their bulls that have sexed semen will be in the price range of 30-50 dollars per straw.... which I don't consider expensive if I get the sex I want....

Heck ya, 30 to 50 a straw sounds like a heck of a deal for sexed semen. What bulls do they carry? Can you pm info on how to get a hold of them or a website? Thanks!!! Im kinda wanting to do a sexed flush on our clubby donor.

ya we purchased built right sexed semen for 45.  For 20 dollars more you can have a heifer, how can you pass that up?!

If you want to breed a cow with sexed semen, the stuff you get from Accelerated Genetics, ABS, Genex, Select Sires will be adequate, although expect a slight 15-20% decrease in conception rates when comparing to conventional semen.  Volumes range from 1.2-2ml straws.

If you wish to flush with sexed semen, by far your best option is semen put up in 5 ml volume at Trans Ova.  You also can breed cows with their 2ml volume, but do not attempt flushing with it.  We've averaged 75-80% fertilization with 3 straws of the 5ml sexed semen, many use 2 straws and get along very as well.
