Sorry we hijacked the original thread but, you're right,  we all did need a good laugh!!  The original problem is a serious one and I, for one, hope this isn't a sign of things to come.  As we condense the gene pool we are getting some very, very good cattle but unfortunately its what we can't see that is causing us the problems.  As we've discussed in other threads--who knows what might be lurking in the current animals genetic makeup that we don't even know about yet.

If anyone get any more information about the "short subject" we've been discussing I would certainly like to hear about it!  Sorry, couldn't help it!

Guys and Gals -- I must tell you -- that this thread brigns a whole new meaning to the words --

Reproductive Physiology

I can just see my old professor (Who I never met as I did everything off campus) -- he would have stood there with this WOODEN look on his face, oh heck -- I better not go there!

All in all though, this most likely is a VERY serious subject out there in the real pastures of cattle production. There certainly are enough reasons we have open cows as it is, let alone producing and propogating (Hopefully) cattle with -- shall we say -- SHORT comings!

This is a real LOADED GUN topic!

Hey shortdawg -- just for the heck of it, if it were ME, I just might have used an alternative username to post on this topic!! Not that there's anything wrong with your normal one, but there ARE folks who may take advantage of the implications!! hehehehe

See ya pard!

I didn't realize until last fall that they used steers to excite bulls that are being collected.  We took a bull up to REI in Stillwater and noticed a lot of steers tied up.  I had to ask the stupid question of what are they here for?  Once they explained it to me and told me some of those steers were around 10 years old.  I came up with my new nominee for worst job in the animal world.  If I were a steer I think I'd truly rather just end up in the food chain.

They turned our bull in with one while we were there and sure enough he went right to town on him.

That trip has inspired many jokes in the family and threats to misbehaving show steers.

I don't know what you'all think this is so new for? Those inadequate boys have been easy to identify for ever!

They are the ones ridin' around behind jacked up duallies, with loud pipes and obnoxious graphics, blowin' smoke at every stop light. <rock>
