Good pics.
Who is the sire of calf on #1 and who is the bull on pic #49.

The sire of that roan calf is YY Cartwright- a Bonanza son out of a DRC cow.
The bull is JSF/RB Proud Jake 49U. He's a JPJ x RB Eagle 148th.  I just turned him out with 17 commercial brangus/angus cows this week.

XBAR, your cows are doing their calves well!

You seem to be under similar conditions to me nutritionally speaking and I would be more than happy with the calves.  Is this an average season for you?

Are there any progeny pictures of that bull JR Drover(??) you had on a previous post?  Interested to see what he bred as he looked to be what I consider the more traditional type of Shorthorn around my part of the world.  Good long muscling that is deceivingly heavy on the hook!

I am partial to horned cattle, even though I dehorn, but was thinking of making 2014 the last year in which I pick up a dehorning iron!

Thanks,, Yes I would say this spring is average as far as rain fall and forage growth.  Lots of crimson clover and ryegrass this time of year.  It would be nice to have some more hay to feed as well as much of this is just wasted as its literally running right through em.  It sure does make them milk though!  I have several calves out of the Drover bull.  Here are a few amateur photos.  All his calves have been solid red even out of a couple pretty loud roans from AHL. The first two pictures are of bull calves out of Lovings  heifers.  The last red heifer is out of an AHL heifer.
