I have a neighbor that is selling a couple shorthorn cows and I raise mainly Angus cattle.  The question i have is given these shorthorn reg. numbers 4137263 and 4123353  am I looking at cows that are clubby, maternal, growthy or ?.  Any advice would be appreciated. They appear to have plenty of frame but are a little thin right now.

These cows are not clubby bred - I would say they were bred to be just good solid females.

4137263-goes back to steermaker and maine lady twice-and to Smithers Dollar 2 bull along with a ton of Irish breeding-she reminds me of an Illinois version of Okie clubby genetics along with one shot of rodeo-and clark way back. SHE WILL WORK with clubbie IMPROVER base genetics-Nothings Free-clean double bred warhorse-mid continent-Double stuff-Lucky Ralph-Man o war, Rumor has it-Jbs Fringe etcetc  4123352-is less clubby- but has some good beef-and no Ayatolah at all.and also goes back to CSF Optimiser (steermaker-maine lady-full sib to Dextro) -I would breed her the same way. There is alot of old breeding back there maine and beef-and a clubby deal would probably change them. O0
