sick calf

does anyone have any advice on a calf who got  heat stroke i put her out in the shade and she moved into the sun-when i went out to feed her i thought she ws dead ,i have got re-sorb in her and this morning she seemed to be better except a little blood in her stool -she is 3 days old her mom rejected her and i dont think she ever drank from her she is a holsteen(and yes i no now no more sun/shade place) shes going to be in the barn for a long time if she makes it        thanks

the absolutely most important thing for a heat stressed animal is cooling them off - generally with a hose until they are soaked and then put them in front of a fan - depending on the temperature and the calf's ability to deal with heat you may have to do this more than once. Heat stressed calves seem to be more prone to having issues again so keep a close eye on her. Did she drink the resorb or did you have to tube her?? Likely she is also dehydrated - I would alternate milk replacer with resorb - give every 6 hours - also if you have a crystalyx tub (small one) with a 4 lb white salt block in her pen. I would not worry so much about the blood in her stool yet - it is not uncommon to see in heat stressed animals - good luck
