For most of this show season we were torn between this calf and an American for Ft Worth.  Well after winning the Gert deal at the Fall Classic we chose the American.  It was still hard slicking this one but once the hair was off I was really pleased with how he looked.  For any of you that have ever slicked one, you know the shock that sometimes comes with seeing them without hair.  Well there was no shock this time.  He is 1260lbs in this picture and will be shown at our County Fair next month then possibly on to San Antonio.

Thanks again to Chambero for selling us such a nice steer.  This is the steer my daughter used to win the TJLA 2011-2012 steer showmanship champion buckle.

With hair, he was looking coarser through the shoulders than I thought he would turn out.  Slicking him off looks like it eliminated a lot of that issue.

Very nice steer.  He appears deeper bodied in the slick photo.  Could be just the photo.

bs cutter: i thought the same thing until i read it again. They couldn't decide whether to take the Gert OR this Sunseeker calf to Ft Worth (guessing you can only enter 1 calf). They decided to take Gert to Ft Worth and this calf to San Antonio. They would have shown him with hair at FT Worth but they slick them for Houston and San Antonio.
