Is he the next Monopoly (popularity exploded after first crop) or the next Womanizer (tons of buzz, then nothing) ??

Any calf reports?

I am leaning toward "All Hype".  I was a big fan, but really disappointed in the first few calves I have seen.  bull calf i saw in iowa was sound but flat made and plain looking.  Another bull
looked really ok, ok hair, ok bone, longer flatter muscle shape.  Also saw one that was a parrot mouth.

His 1st crop is hitting the ground this spring. How could yOu already judge calves that are a couple weeks old?

We have a few cows bred to him about to calve any day now. I'll post pics when they're born. Hopefully we can say he's the next Monopoly.

Sad truth is that he isnt owned by the right people to make him the next monopoly.

I second what zak said. unless you are looking at babies which, yes you can tell some, but not enough to make a statement on a bull. time will tell, but I think this bull will throw some real solid calves

So I have to agree, there are no calves on the ground out of him yet that are old enough to really make a good judgement.  I have heard people saying they had calves out of him on the ground for months now, and I dont think semen was offered on him early enough to get some of them on the ground. The earliest calves actually out of him are only a week or 2 old now I think and I have heard they look pretty good at this stage.
As far as him not being owned by the right people to make him the next Monopoly, I would normally agree, but there has been so much hype about this bull since Denver last year.  Heck its over a year later, and I cant remember much more than a week going by that somebody didnt ask about him.  SO I think if these first calves are good, he is going to take off.  There has been so much hype and use of this bull even unproven, that if he proves himself I think he could very much be the next Monopoly.  And dont sell his owners short, they may not be as big as Lautner, but they have had success with Captain Morgan, so they have a name, and now to turn out Smiling Bob, they could very much be on their way to being the next Lautners.

i agree with sfasu and zak. you cant judge these calves because most babies look the same. it takes a while. also the skinners know how to promote cattle. and they dont waste time promoting one that doesn't have all the potential to be a great one. trust me,
