You can keep the snow for yourself please. We are getting a nice April shower today. It has gotten cooler here today. In the lower 50s this morning. A lot of the corn is in the ground and we were needing some moisture to get it sprouted. I went to look @ my seeding yesterday, and I thinking that I will be able to row the oats today. I could see the alphalfa breaking through the ground as well. Forcast is for a rainy weekend here in Iowa.

SE Wyo we are closing in on 3" of precip, which is a lot of moisture in this country.  Some flash flood warnings.  Ground was already pretty wet in the soil profile when this started.  Supposed to blow snow tonight into Sat. AM.  New calves hitting the ground.  Should have calved in March this year.  Have to start watching out for grass tetany on the cows next week when the sun hits after all this moisture.

Not sure which is worse, snow or rain,  both end up as mud :-\ Headed out to feed and plow. I just keep thinking moisture + sun = amazing pastures!!!!

We have stepped up the mineral program here after learning the hard way.  Every couple of years we have one go down and once the convulsions start it is usually over even if we make the obligatory vet call and spend $150 on IV, etc.  Some just don't consume the hi-mag mineral.  If we get a big warm up right after a heavy moisture dump, that is the prime time for grass tetany.  One thing that seems to help as much as the mineral is to have some grass hay available free choice (usually some stuff that isn't all that great) that they can go fill up on if the new grass doesn't have enough bulk.

I loved the rain here in colorado yesterday (I did not see any tornados though) but I am so not a fan of this snow! I felt like it was summertime already.... now I dont... everything is white again!!!! My least favorite thing about snow and rain is the mud... my steers pen is almost all mud now because of the snow and rain and I just added on to his pen last week so he could have more space that was dry in his pen.... its not so dry anymore... Ill have to add on more once all this weather stops being wet!  :-\

Here's a picture of our back deck. I think we have over 18 inches now and it's still snowing hard.

Have Yuns tried any "sweet-mag"? You can kinda make it yourself by mixing dried mollasses crystals in a bucket, with regular hi-mag mineral.
