Here are some pictures of our calves. We used 2 shorthorn bulls Hatfield Governor 17x and Hatfield Snowman. Our cows are every breed under the sun and the 2 bulls managed give us some really nice calves with a lot of thickness to them.  The first three are Governor calves from 1st calf heifers. The black one is our son's 4-H calf from a smaller framed 1/2 black angus cow. She calved at the beginning of March

!st calf is a bit older. They are all similarly built.  I know people say its a bad thing, but I love going to the barn to see what kinda colors and spots the new calf has! If you ever talk to Monty he can tell you what a diverse gruop of cows these bulls had to work with and they have done an excellent job giving us solid unassisted calves. We are almost done calving and we pulled 2. One probably could have calved on her own but we jumpedthe gun a little I think

They look great!!!  (clapping) Glad the Shorties are working in your program :)

I know they aren't fancy show cattle, but we've never had calves that look like these at birth.  Both bulls have added thickness to the calves. We are REALLY pleased. I think that they have improved our calf crop significantly.  Can't wait to see what they will do this summer!  ;D

Here is a picture of Hatfield Governor 17X. He will start breeding again at the end of April.  He has been eating a barley/millet silage which they only get access to for a couple of hours a day, and straw/corn stalks with a bit of peas (processed) to top them off. He's been running with our pregnant cows all winter. He's 2 years old.

very nice calves! i think you will be suprised at how some of them look this summer and fall being out of shorthorn bulls and you may consider pulling a couple show prospects. and if ther bulls were pure bred the calves could be registered as pluses

The 223 pic might just do the trick for that.  Nice calves good luck w/em!
