What are some names of steer jocks or club calf buyer's in the Midwest? (OH, IN, IL, KY, IA, etc) I'm talking about people who will buy calves either in the spring or late summer and resell them in the fall. Examples of names that are doing this are Groetska, Guyer, etc. Wanted to see who everyone has come through and look at their calves. I'm sure there are more people out there doing this than I can think of.

If you are close to Ohio, or have a great one. Dave Sutherly, Nick Schroeder or even Tyler Winegardner will come take a look or make arrangements with you.

There are plenty of people that will market a true stud. Do you have one? Do you know what one is or looks like at 30 days old? There are thousands of commonly good calves out there. If you want Tracy or Wade or the like to come look you better have a rip. And if you call them and they come out and you dont have a rip... well you will never get anyone to come out and look again. If you have a bunch of really good county fair calves then I suggest you start marketing locally. If you have a great one then I suggest calling whoever the owner of the sire is. If you got a stud monopoly call matt. If its a FMC call wade, etc... but before you make that call be honest with yourself, is it truly a GREAT ONE?

Thanks for all the replies. Anybody know of anyone else? I'm not necessarily only talking about the people who buy the $10K+ calves. I know a lot of them buy a lot of calves in the $2,000-$5,000 range as well. These may not be the calves plastered all over in banner pictures with their names on them but plenty of people are buying and selling them. Anybody specifically in Kentucky or Tennessee do some steer jocking?

Look up the names of anyone selling club calves in KY or TN.

Anyone.  Call them up.  None of these guys are raising what they are selling.  Sure, maybe some they are raising.  The others are trader cattle.

No offense, but you are making it much harder than it needs to be.

Be mindful of your pricing.  If a guy doesn't think he can make a $1000 on one he probably won't even come look.  That may not even be enough margin today.  Once you haul one home, feed him and work on him for 3 weeks there isn't much left. Especially if you figure in risk.  Call the guys who own the bulls your calves are out of.  They will always come look but will probably bring a camera and their semen tank instead of a checkbook.  Guys like Rodgers, Lautner and Gonnet are always looking for goods ones out of their bulls but will probably sell you more semen before they leave.

Tallcool1...it is a little difficult to look someone up and call them if you don't have a name to look up which is the whole purpose of this post
