Is the calf by himself or with another calf?  I have always found that a little competition will help with intakes.

Calf should be eating 25 pounds of grain right now. I would feed him 3 times a day. 2 scoops feed, 1 scoop Barley, 1 pound Stabilized rice bran, 3 ounces of the high octane each feeding. I would also get some good 3 way grain forage hay, and let him eat as much as he wants at night. We have found that it really helps drop the flank and give them a fuller deeper look, plus the added calories from the hay wont hurt. The hay is coarser than grass hay, works kinda like the beet pulp as far as fill.

You should try wheat germ. I am having kinda the same problem as you. My calves will eat but will not put on fat. So I added some wheat germ and they are coming on good. It will also some shine to their hair and it is not expensive at all.

I am not sure if you can do this for beef or not, but I feed High Octane Champion Drive, and several other HONOR products. To ensure that he doesn't pick things out, couldn't you slop feed him? I slop my pigs, and they really like it, and they don't pick a darn thing out. IDK if you can do this, but if you could it might help. Good luck! <cowboy>

Coat everything in molassis if he picks it out...Its very very odd that he picks out the power fuel!! That stuff is very palatable, and every animal we have fed it to goes nuts over it all( lambs, pigs, cattle).
