About 2 weeks on OptaChamp and now 4H steer is very stiff in the front and back.  He doesn't want to walk out.  Took him off OptaChamp two days ago but he's still stiff.  19 days until fair.  Any advise to easy his pain?  Should he get better now that we discontinued use?

We used a Zilmax product a couple of years ago and had the same problem.  Never got over it and tried everything.  Vet prescribed Banamine and Dex and it helped, but had to pull him off before fair because of withdrawal times.  We have never used anything like that since.  Good luck, maybe someone else on here has had luck combating this.

We had the exact same thing last winter on a steer that was fed it for two weeks. It will probably take about two weeks to get it out of his system. I would highly recommend getting him on glide and maybe lubrisyn asap and I think you have a good chance. Our steer walked well on show day. He was on glide and lubrisyn and off the product for two weeks after becoming stiff.

We had the same problem as well.  Had to take a really sound and good moving steer off.

You have to figure out how to get him to exercise.  I haven't seen your steer, but I know what Optiflexx did to our steer.  I didn't feel that it messed with his joint structure, it just tightened him up.  I would compare it to what weight lifting will do to a persons flexibility.

We ended up using an exercise rack that we pulled behind a 4 wheeler and walked him really slow just to stretch him out.  It helped, but he never went back to the way he was before.
