I would go with Phildon Absolutely, I would say Fringe, but there aren't any calves on the ground yet. The calves I have seen out of this bull have really impressed me and He is massive in terms of bone and that cow family this bull comes from are known for being big body cattle. I wish I would have used him this year, but I used his full brother Get Serious instead. Just my thoughts. Thanks, dhs

Absolutely has sired very impressive calves already--Ron has a heifer you'd rather show than show against--she's for sale.

Fringe should sire more chrome.  If he breeds like he looks, look out.

Saskvalley Pioneer 126P and Wolf Willow Major Leroy 1M , are two sires we are using and both add bone, volume and thickness to their calves. Dr Bert Moore told me last week that the second crop of Pioneer calves at NDSU are just like the first crop, in that every calf is thicker and deeper than it's mother. Both these bulls are structurally sound, easy fleshing and clean.I have semen from both at Hawkeye Breeders, Adel, IA and Leroy is available from Semex and several other distributors. Here are pics of Pioneer, Leroy and Off Road, who is the first Leroy bull calf born in the US and he was Champion and top selling bull at $8000 at the Ohio Beef Expo.

Both Pioneer and Leroy are very moderate framed. Of course Pioneer died at 2.5 years of age, so I do not know how big he would have been at maturity. He was a tank of a bull. Both Pioneer and Leroy were 5.5 - 6 frame bulls, but with their massive capacity and volume, they still weighed a bunch. Leroy is almost 8 years old and still looks like a 3 year old. He moved like a cat and stayed in great shape despite breeding a pile of cows this summer. He is a tremendous semen producer, and they bottled 1024 straws of high quality semen on his first collection when Semex purchased the world semen rights in him. Leroy's mother is one of our best donors and she is an amazing female. I also own Pioneer's grandmother and at 13 years she is still a model cow.

Saskvalley has a yearling full brother to Pioneer that they are keeping as a herd sire in their herd. I have not seen him, but heard he is pretty stout.
