I figured I would start this.... I usually am not a huge pro football fan. A bunch of guys who get paid way too much money to play a game, but just watched a blurb on TV that kinda got me thinking.
They were saying how much the Saints Football team meant to New Orleans and how much New Orleans loved the Saints.  I can't help but think back to when the Saints opened up their stadium to the flood victems and the "victems" totally TRASHED THE PLACE. TORE UP THE SEATS, TORE UP THE FIELD, TOTALLED THE BATH ROOMS. So my thought is, does new orleans REALLY love their Saints?

Anyway, I am rooting for the Colts. I don't mind Payton Manning  (unlike some GQ's he's not too bad). And have a sentimental favorite on the defensive line (Hawkeye player!) I say Colts by 14.

For the feast: Grilled Ribeyes, Cheesy Hashbrowns, Salad, Green Bean Cass, Homemade bread and choc brownies and ice cream for dessert.  Appetizers: Deep fat fried pickles, nachoes, and of course, my cheese and ham pickles.

So what is everyone else fixing and who ya rooting for??

I will be over around noon, yum!!! I am going for the saints this year!! They almost had a chance to play the colts in 2006 in the SB...but my bears beat them in the NFC championship!

Lots of finger foods, and stuff.

My mom baby sat peyton when he was a toddler!! They would run the astro dome as kids when there dad played for the Oilers!

Well the kids are having about 20 over for the game so it's prolly whatever they order from the basement.   As for the town of new orleans lovin their saints showheifer, I'm guessin most of the people in that stadium during the hurricane aren't the same class of people spending 100 bucks on football tickets.  Oh, and i hope manning hurts as bad as favre did..

I am rooting for the saints.  The colts have inflicted too much damage on my chiefs in the postseason.

They knocked us out in 95, 03, 06, the latter 2 at the hands of peyton.

Colts all they way!!! Broadcasters keep saying how its the Saints destiny and how the city loves them so much and the team means so much bla bla bla.  Yes, New Orleans takes a lot of pride in the team but so does Indy.  I'm currently living in Indianapolis and it is quite rediculous how insane it is here but its fun.  Peyton is just too much to handle this season I think the Colts will take an early lead and cruise the rest of the game ahead by about two scores.  For food I'll prolly get pizza and Bud Light.  GO COLTS... hope you all enjoy the game.

Colts - Peyton is just too much ! I saw him play in college a couple of times and he's just in a different league than most QB's.

didn't see him win the national title.  that was after he left.  this is what will happen.  they will put two men on the tight end, and change up rush scheme with zone blitzes.  they will take a couple of PF's early to get the feet tapping a little faster and take away the angles.  he will respond by going deep.  if the saints fail that, colts win.

I've been trying to decide all day who to root for... I always like the underdog but I'm with you Show Heifer guess going with the Colts.
This may sound awful.. but this year we're planning to go to Houston for the stock show.  Last time we went to Houston was right after Houston was swarmed with the Katrina evacuees, I booked a room at a Hotel that I thought was a pretty good one... it was the most awful thing ever... that Hotel soon after I'm sure was going to have to have a total remodel!
Anyhow.. going for the COLTS.
Menu sounds good too... I thought I was a good cook... but you have to tell me exactly what is a "fried pickle"  and "cheese and ham pickles"?  thats one on me for sure!!
I'm gonna get off easy tomorrow... going over to neighbors  annual SB party...  having Chili AND  Beer!! (maybe a mixed drink or two!)  A TEXAS thang...  HAVE FUN EVERYONE!!

Fried pickles: A quarter of a pickle sliced length ways, then dipped in a crumb mixture (fine ground saltines and Club buttery crackers and pepper), then deep fat fried. Absolutely YUMMY. (I assumed you can buy them but don't know)

Cheese and Ham pickles: Take a piece of dried ham (you know the stuff you can buy in those small packages for about 69 cents), then put cream cheese on it (easiest to spread at room temp) Repeat 5-6 times ending with cream cheese, layering them a bit off so you end up with a connected string that is 10-12 inches long. Take the whole dill pickle and dry well. Roll the pickle in the ham and cream cheese. Then slice in chunks (I make mine about 1/3 inch).  Refrig until eaten. I know these sound a bit odd, but yummy, yummy, yummy!!

If you like bannana's I have a snack recipe that is real odd that my Mom made as a kid (grew up way past dirt poor)  Slice a bannana length wise and spread with Mircle Whip, then sprinkle on dry roasted peanuts.  Super Yummy!!
