Where can I find ICE or Tasco?  I have found them in supplements and feeds, but not on their own.  We are VERY new to cattle - we showed sheep before this year and are a little overwhelmed with all there is to learn!  Our show isn't until early 2012 so growing hair isn't our focus right now, but we do need our calf to get through a 110+ summer as comfortably as possible.  Thanks to all who share their knowledge so willingly with the rest of us!!!

If you can find a vigortone mineral to add to your feed it can have ICE in it, other than That I believe you would have to contact the local sales rep and he could probably get you some straight ice

Thanks, I will contact the Co. and see if they have someone in my area.  My husband believes most supplements are "snake oil" and doesn't think they are worth the money.  I will be showing him this thread and hopefully it will help change his mind.

Not sure where you are located but we have one feed dealer in our area that carries the straight Tasco. Land  O lakes is who he gets it from. You might be able to contact your local rep with landO lakes and they should be able to tell you how to get the Tasco. I will be the first to tell you that it truly works. We had calves last year here in W. Texas in the HOT, dry heat that had hair like they had been in a cold room. These calves were out in the pasture. No fans, no misters, and were not washed or rinsed everyday. Good Luck to you.

We live in the So California desert. Unfortunately our feed stores carry just the very basics, but we do have a lot of feedlots around so maybe we will have to visit one or two and see if they know anything about Tasco or how to get it. Thanks again for the help!

We are switching to Honors Show Chow, which has Tasco in it.  Should we supplement with additional Tasco to help with our summer heat or is what is in the feed enough?

we use Tasco for hair growth. Much cheaper than buying the supplements that have Tasco in them, have seen great results. Had calves with hair in 100 + temps that were just in the pasture and never saw a fan or cold room. Also tried Calfzilla last year liked the results we saw with it.
where do u get just tasco ???

I have been told straight Tasco can be ordered from your local Purina dealer/salesman.  I have asked mine to look into it for me, but haven't heard back yet.

Tasco is Kelp Meal which is Atlantic seaweed. Tasco is a product carried by Purina. Tasco is added to Honor Show Chow which is the feed we use.

Stabilized Rice Bran (2 pounds) Finish
Calf Manna (2 pounds) If we need more gain
Grow and Shine (30 CCs) for hair (will take a little edge off one)
Glu-Coat (Four plunges) more gain, internal fat, also has tasco(took some edge off as well)

If I could only use one I would go with the Stabilized Rice Bran (I'd rather have an animal that is carcass ready and give up some hair, than have hair and not enough finish)
