We are also 30 days out from our county and are having to hold ours.  We are walking 30-45 minutes every morning and cutting back on feed and giving more med. quality hay.  He's a Heatwave and if we can keep him from popping when he walks, he's gonna be hard to beat.

You might want to talk to your local Purina dealer. I believe one of their Power Fuel supplements might be able to help you.  Good luck!

3 pounds of beet pulp, 3 pounds of oats, 3 pounds of feed, and 1 pound of calf-manna or soy pellets twice a day and walk him early morning and late evening. Bermuda hay.

If you really want to put the breaks on him,4 beet pulp, 4 oats, one calf manna ( or soy pellets ) and 1/2 pound stabilized rice bran. Twice a day, exercise and grass hay.

Need the protein and some fat to keep them fresh looking.
