Just work with them. We have a rectangular pad we use to feed cattle on that is fenced in, we walk ours around, align them, and then walk again. It helps simulate how they move during a real show.

Really don't know any tricks to cure that besides some TLC to show him that he isn't going to get hurt standing there. Just keep working with him is my only advice.

not to be nitpicky, but this is TWO problems.

deal with the standing one first.

end on good notes.

they can sense the progression of the things you are going to pick on them for rather than the progression of the things you are going to reward them for.

same with people too.  hmm.

The steer in my avatar was great at home but didnt like to stand still for more than 5 seconds at show because of all the stuff going on (the blue roan beside us in the final drive was the same way) and I was told to give him 6 or7 meletonin pills. I didnt cause I got the info late and wasnt sure if I could at our show but I saw it work on another steer that was the same way and it calmed him way down. But ya the more they travel and if you work them in shorter intervals at a time they usually do good

get him stood up properly & scratch his belly w/ the show stick. Mine seem to love that.
