In the midst of laundry, cleaning, feeding and getting my kids to the multitude of places they need to be, one can find pleasure in the simplest things.
I filled my coffee cup up this morning, stepped out on the front porch and watch the little calves running around in the pasture like there isn't a care in the world. That's something I never get tired of seeing.  They're like this as the sun goes down at night too.  How can anyone not find pleasure in watching this.

It's going to be a good day  ;D

I totally agree.  Except I can't see my calves out the window with my coffee.  I enjoy too calving season, because sometime when I have a crazy day and all the kids have gone to bed and my husband get in from work.  I'll go done to the barn and check the cows that are calving and just relax and watch the calves running around in the lot under the lights.  I really like it on a full moon.

My coworkers think I am crazy. I have a "lounge" set up in the barn so I can watch calves and cows. Love this time of the year!

I don't care who you are. If you can not take that monent of time and enjoy that monent of time. You need to see a therapist. Plain and simple the best pleasure there is in life. Day or night. That is all I have to say. Harry

I generally drink a cup of coffee each morning, sitting on the end of our show calves' feed bunk.  I just sit there & watch them eat.  The more I'm around them, I think the more relaxed they get with the whole routine.

This morning, while I was drinking my coffee, I heard a horn honking, so I looked out my front window and saw close to 40 heifers standing on our lawn. They somehow got a gate unhooked on their pen and they wandered into the yard, looking for something green to munch. I think they knew they were not supposed to be there because I as I got into my truck, they all ran back to the feedlot, and back into their pen. All I had to do is close the gate and make sure it was properly latched and safety tied.

I will agree that there is nothing that makes a person feel good than to watch a bunch of calves playing. The world just seems to be a better place. Those of us that can enjoy these simple things are truely blessed.

I agree!  I enjoy just standing at my back door and seeing all the cattle grazing and the calves running around a playing.  Nothing more relaxing.

Wow....you were really lucky.  If we had that many loose, I might have panicked and scared them in 20 different directions...lol
Glad it all worked out <beer>

This time of the year is pure heaven on earth, watching the mother cow's and the babies.  The mothers take better care for their babies than some human's do!

We have two paastures, one north of the house and the other is south of the house. I don't have any calves yet but I'm sure I will be smiling everytime I eat supper while watching the calves play.

God has certainly smiled upon us in this neck of the woods.  We have had two weeks of beautifully warm dry weather.  So nice considering all the mud mud mud etc that we fought all winter.

My co-workers think I am crazy too!! We don't have a lounge to watch but it is nice to walk through the babys and watch them play and buck. It seems there is hardly ever time to just watch and enjoy in the world we live in now. Drive to work, work, hurry home and try to get another days work done before dark.I guess we just need to take the time.Wish I was at home now!!!

If you had of been standing on my porch this morning you would have been blown off and your coffee cup would have been filled with snow!

I do however agree with the same sentiments, my favourite part of the day is just standing watching the new calves play and run around. Nothing more exciting then a new calf and wondering how good it might be in the end.

I was out of town for a week. Woke up yesterday morning and 3 of our calves had gotten out of the pasture and were standing/grazing at our back door. I think they missed me!

There's nothing better than watching a youngster---calf, colt, wildlife, or people for that matter--getting their legs under them and learning the ways of the world---Specially in the heavenly light of early morning or late evening!!  Kinda makes you realize this old world's a lot bigger than just you and me and we all are just a small part of a much bigger plan!!

When people ask me why at my age I don't just sell out & take it easy I simply reply that my cattle are my therapy & keep me young!
