What is the best bedding to use in a none cool room setting. I just have a barn wall to tie calves to with stir fans at their rear.

have used it before its a good deal if you can get it ran through twice by whoever you get it from.  Only problem i have see is that if you keep your stalls clean you will go through it pretty quick, and the knees will tend to lose the hair on the front. At least that's the only thing i think that was doing that because on regular shaving the hair grew back in. Another option is to call around to wood manufacturing companies and see if they have a shavings pile from their planer. Usually these guys will be more than happy to hook you up.

We have the same setting, a three sided barn with a fan and misters. We have a local Amish mill that will load up the back of our truck for $15, and it fills the barn and lasts about a month (with about 4  head on it). The last two times the mill has been down, so we went to the local city parks and got mulch for free. It is not as consistant as the mill mulch, but still seems to work well. W have never lost hair on knees, but I could see it happening if your mulch was too large...
