Looks like this sale went pretty well for them. Was able to look through the cattle a couple weeks ago and a very nice set.  Some brought pretty good money. Be interesting to see if Eye Candy can continue the nice season those calves had this year.

I heard there was a calf at the feeder calf show today at Nasha that came from there.  Was told the calf brought way more than it was worth, stood bottom of class.  It is early those calves can change.

There were some stout calves in that sale.  I would be interested to know if the calf at the show today was actually in the online sale, seeing that the bids didnt close until last night. Guess its possible, but it was a stout group of calves so if something there stood at bottom of a class it must have been one hell of a show.  All in all I actually thought there were some pretty good buys on calves in that sale, especially a few of those smokey heifers.  A few cattle went a little higher than I expected, but I actually expected several of them to go higher than they did. I am interested to see the heifer shows coming up in the next year or 2 though, I feel like I have seen a lot of high quality heifers spread out in all the online sales this year, so I feel like in the long run its gonna come down to who raises them the best.

I think the Eye Candy calves will keep winning, the champion feeder heifer at Nashua today was a Eye Candy she looked really good. Rusty Wire catlle co. raised her.

I think the Eye Candy calves I have seen will just continue to get better and better. I think that bull has quite a future.  As far as feeder calf results go, placements in those shows really mean so very little.  It is hard to judge them young as they change as they grow.

Question for those of you who saw the set. I went through the set Saturday and one question stuck in my head throughout the whole group, and that was, will they get big enough????

Those of you that went through them in person what do you think?

IF this is true Iowabeef why don't people pay the big bucks for the crappy ones if they are going to change so much as they grow?? I do agree thou  that Eye Candy has a very bright future.

I have yet to hear of an Eye Candy calf that didn't grow or feed good.  I thought the calves looked right on target for this time of year.  Nice offering, I was impressed.

The private treaty calves were a stout set too.

AI Guy-what I ment is feeder calf shows are really not relavant in the total scheme of things. Yes they are fun but they are really not an indicator of what that calf will be when it comes to the shows that count later on.  Young calves do change quite a bit.  Find one with the right pieces and you can raise it into a winner.  You can get them big and stout young and they don't finish off because they cripple up and don't end up finishing out a show season.  I guess it depends on a showperson's goal.  Win the early shows or not push a calf so much when it is young and feed it into a winner later on.  Not saying the really great ones can't be great from beginning to end but more often than not those that are really something in the fall, aren't around at the end of the next summer. Just something I have observed over the years.
Starz 20-I agree.  Those Eye Candy calves seem to be easy growing calves.  Plus I have not seen one that wasn't super hairy.

Iowabeef  I agree with that I have seen some good young calves get straight and cripple up as they get older usually these calves are really straight and give some indication that, that will happen and some good calves just haven't seen enought good feed yet. In regards to the Eye Candy calves they seem to have smoother joints I would think that is coming from the Galloway and I think his calves will stay sound because of it. Too date I have not seen one that had structure issues, but I have seen a few that weren't real pretty. But a lot more that are!!
