Update to "Keep as a Bull or Steer him" Clark Club Calves

He is growing well and is starting to put on some hair even in some of the hottest days.  He is a Man Among Boys x Wazn't Me.

Something about his hind leg structure bothers me - I would make him a steer.

To cut up at the flank for me. I would steer him. JMHO

If I remember right, you planned on keeping him yourself, so what do you think? If he is sound, grew well and has the look you like keep him a bull, I think he would make a competitive fat steer. You have watched him grow and I'm sure there are things you do not like as well as things you do like. Bottom line if you think he can help you improve and make money on your calves then keep him a bull ans use him. I think his dam was pretty impressive, so he has that going for him.

If I saw him in a pen of calves, he would defiantly be one that got a second look.

The "hip thing" might be more where the white spot falls in the top line. I like him- if it was me, I would stop looking at him for a few days and then decide. lots of power, smooth made, you bred him so you know what his dam is all about too. 

He has the genetics for making some showy calves. There's a fine line when it comes to structure and he might be balancing on it. I think he would work best on some straighter bred Angus or maybe Hereford/ Shorthorn type cows to power them up.

Leave him till October then if you still have to second guess yourself make him a show steer.

if you have to ask, the answer is cut, if they deserve to stay a bull, there will be no doubt in your mind

He's got enough crest now that if you are considering cutting him, do it sooner than later.  Hate to wait too long and limit his value as a steer as well if he gets too masculine.

I agree, but still think those legs are good enough for him to be a very competitive steer. Steer is my vote, and sooner rather then later.
