The definition of communism has absolutely nothing to do with the voting structures that are popular amongst communist nations.  You are mistaking communism with the actions of various communist nations.  Communism can exist in all forms of government whether that be pure democracy, representative republics, dictatorships, theocracies, etc.

I'm a capitalist that called a teacher out for not knowing the difference between communism and the boogie man.

Ok, by reading her posts she does know the difference. Thats a pretty rude statement, and when you result to insults is a sign that you're running out of facts for your part of the arguement.

what good fortune for government that the people don't think.

the people who cast the votes don't decide an  election, the people who count the votes do.

communism is management of every transaction, even voting, so by definition, there is no decoupling.  one can spout all they want about the "idealism" of communism, but, it's premise is faulty.

I first tell my students they have to be smart enough to USE "google" or they shouldn't use it. (I will translate that for you carl). That means, if all you do is put something in and then puke up what it tells you without knowing what it means, then you are not smart enough to use google.
Second, my comment stands. It was also a reference to another post of mine regarding the health care bill. Sorry that went over your head.
Third, you wouldn't last 3 days in my class.

Knabe: Your are 100% correct in that only the government benefits from people not thinking.  Many people now days just fumble along, happy with what they do have, hoping the gov't will give them what they do not have and want.  I just returned from a trip to our state capitol. I knew what went on, but sheesh, some was so obvious it made ME blush!!
Another thing Knabe, working with high school students has also taught me few know what RESPECT is. I certainly do not expect any from certain folks on here.  Rudeness is just there defense mechanism for when they run out of reasoning.

As I understand it Nebraska is the next"peoples Republic of Boulder" They will welcome you with open arms...if you are pro life...democrat....socialist....and like high property taxes.....and it doesn't hurt to have the iq of a grapefruit. Last I knew Nelson has a brand new stadium in the works for the Cornhusker kick back deal. I assume that Nebraska will soon lead the nation in welfare recepients.

Just received notice that Michigan's' governor has proclaimed March 20 as Michigan Meat Out day.  Here are a couple of phone numbers to call and complain.
517.335.7858 or 517373.3400. Please take a few minutes to call and help support our state's second leading industry. Thank you.

Michigan Meatout Day
Whereas, A wholesome diet of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains promotes good health and reduces the risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, and other chronic diseases, which take the lives of approximately 1.3 million Americans each year; and,

Whereas, The number of those who choose to live the lifestyle of a vegan or vegetarian has increased and so has the availability and selection of meat and dairy alternatives in mainstream grocery stores, restaurants, and catering operations; and,

Whereas, Reducing the consumption of meat or not eating meat at all can significantly decrease the exposure to infectious pathogens such as salmonella, E. coli, and campylobacter, which take the lives of several thousand Americans and sicken millions more each year; and,

Whereas, The benefits of a plant-based diet can consist of increased energy levels, lower food budget costs, and simplified food preparation and cleanup; and,

Whereas, It is encouraged that the residents of this state get into the habit of healthy living ,

Gov. Granholm is talking about meat, all meat, not pinpointing beef or beef farmers.  Please do not take her statement out of context.  She is not telling people to become vegetarians.  She is speaking concerning our HEALTH, not "health care".

I am sitting here, unable to go to the barn, and check my own cows, since I just had heart cauterisation() surgery performed on Wednesday.  I raise cattle.  I love red meat and eat as much or more beef than anyone I know.  However, I now have a whole new out look on eating healthy.

I also just got "The Lecture" from my Cardiologist about a healthy diet, weight,  and exercise.  A healthy diet and exercise is the only solution to a long life, especially anyone who has an existing health problem.  i.e.  High blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart issues, obesity, and on and on.  Too much in excess in anyones diet , whether it be meat, fat, calores, or liquor is  not considered healthy.  It will "in general" shorten your life.  Fact based on many studies, not fiction.

Please remember one other thing also, when Gov. Granholm recommends eating vegetables, it is one of our fellow farmers who raises those foods, also.

Signed,

A Proud Michigander

This is also what the gov said - Michigan's gov has proclaimed that "reducing the consumption of meat, or not eating meat at all, can significantly decrease exposure to infectious pathogens , such as salmonella, E coli, and campylobacter, which take the lives of several thousand of Americans and sicken millions more each year..."

She is uninformed  and her comments border on stupid. She apparently knows little about food safety and gets pi** poor medical and nutritional advice. She is apparently unaware of the effect of cooking and the fact that other food can present a problem with infection - spinach, peanut butter, sprouts etc? maybe we need a no peanut butter day, no spinach day, no lettuce day, no salsa day....

SEA I am sorry for your health issues but I don't think you can blame beef or meat alone- - the primary issue for most Americans is they are too fat ---> if you are overweight, hypertensive, have insulin resistance, atherosclerosis, increased lipids --- these are all related and multifactorial

I don't know how these threads get so eschewed, but beef producers seems to really be in denial. Beef has to be leaned and cleaned up. The aging baby boomers who want to live to be 100 are not eating it. I can't sell it on my menu. You can argue all you want about Democracy, Communism, a Republic or whatever but people are not eating your product. I hate to be so brutally honest but these are the facts. PETA nor the USHS are not the intities bringing your product down. It is the old fashion way we produce it.

Research and development is were your dollors really need to go. I just shake my head when I see an off colored Filet Mignon in an advertisement posing as a mountain saying here's the beef. These are your check-off dollars. I'm not happy with the way they spend your money and I can't believe any of you are.

that she is in office is not a bad reflection on her, but the voting public and the abortion issue.

conservatives won't spell out exactly what the penalty for abortion will be, and won't expand adoption and liberals won't allow any restrictions.  since we don't have diversity in k-12 anymore, students are liberals till they start paying taxes.

it is my view that if conservatives spent their energy on providing adoption and other solutions rather than fear they are going to put people in jail, they would win every election hands down.

Please reread my post.  As it seems you took my comments out of context.

I merely commented on a personal issue (which, I will never do again, on this board).  I related my health issue with the health of others, and simply eating a "healthy diet".  I spoke of many foodstuffs being eaten "In Excess", not just BEEF!  My point was that all of us need to eat healthy, and exercise, in order to live a healthy and long life.

However, I do resent your last comment.  We have never met.  You do not know me.  You are not my doctor.  It is none of your business to PRESUME any of my health conditions.  I do not believe that you can "DIAGNOSE" any of my health conditions, whether it be my weight, height, sex, blood pressure, cholesterol level, etc., (you get the idea), or anything else by reading my previous post.  So, unless your first name is Jesus, please refrain from your personal comments concerning me and my health.

Thank you,

CHILL OUT and perhaps re read my post - I was speaking generically - the You was generic in relationship to most Americans - which is what I was talking about - most Americans are too fat - "SEA I am sorry for your health issues but I don't think you can blame beef or meat alone- - the primary issue for most Americans is they are too fat"--- so if MOST AMERICANS  are overweight, hypertensive, have insulin resistance, atherosclerosis, increased lipids --- these are all related and multifactorial SORRY IF YOU THOUGHT I WAS SPEAKING TO YOU - I wouldn't know you from Adam

SEA, I agree with you about a healthier diet but think you need to read DL's post again. "If you are over weight...", was not pinpointing you personally. DL was just generalizing.

Telo's, I know you run a higher end restraunt in TX. First off, what IS your high selling dinner? Fish? Chicken? Lamb?

Second, you are a bit correct when you say we haven't changed the way we produce beef in the last 100 years. So my question is: How can we change it to make a better product? Is Wygu the answer? Is grass fed the answer?

I ask you this only to try and get an idea of direction from someone who is making a living selling what I am trying to produce.

Thanks
