I am starting to monkey around with shooting videos of the cattle.  Was wondering if any had any suggestions about what format works best for posting them here?  I have a very basic digital video camera, IE pretty crappy videos.  I have a couple of media players that I watch them on and a very basic editor program.  Can I just save them on my Windows Media Player and then post them in an SP thread?  I am a little behind recent technological advances and would greatly appreciate any information on how to post videos.  I am sure there have probably been threads about this in the past, but I haven't had a chance to read all the previous topics just yet.  I would appreciate directions to those threads if they exist.  Thanks in advance.

Actually got through the archives and got some help there.  I do have Windows Movie Maker.  I think that files from it may be too large for dial-up users though.  I don't really want to go through Youtube or another outlet to get them posted.  Would really like to learn how to post them here myself.  Any additional info. would be greatly appreciated.

Video and dial-up don't really mix regardless of how you look at it.  Converting to Flash will help (it's also what Youtube does) but the files will still be extremely large.

If you want to post them here, uploading them to Youtube is the way to go.

I agree YouTube is definitely the way to go. They have so many servers that they can pull from it makes viewing videos whether you have dial-up or high speed easier. Also you can get some great data from YouTube to see how people are viewing your video. Are they searching for it on YouTube, did they follow a link or was the video embedded into another website. Our YouTube channel is www.youtube.com/apicreativemedia you would be surprised how many cattle videos are on there once you start searching.

I do all of our conversion with software from AVS4YOU. You pay a lifetime subscription price of like $50 and you have access to quite a few different programs. My last project was to convert a half hour DVD into Flash format. The original DVD was 1.3GB in size. The flash file was around 170mb. If you're going to be doing any big projects, this is the way to go.
