Tonight I was just looking at several different cattle web sites and I as I was looking at this one site in Texas I see a familiar picture under calves for sale. It is my heifer!! This is a heifer born this fall at my barn and is still at my barn in Florida! I like to post pictures of our calves on Facebook because its a great way to reach potential customers but I have found out it is also a great place for people to steal your pictures for their own use. Lesson learned always watermark your photos and never trust what you see on the internet when buying calves!

Happens in other businesses too, I've seen it in the construction equipment industry every now and then.  It's a shame.

I have tried contacting the person. Want to hear what they say before making their name public but if you want to know send me a message and I will let you know. I don't know what the laws are about doing this but since posting about it on FB I have heard from other people having the same thing happen to them. So when you post photos on FB make sure your name or logo is on it because it is easy for anyone to take your picture and use it as their own. This person was a FB friend and a couple of months ago he posted my picture in his FB and I said something and he just said he really liked my heifer. I have unfriended him and never gave him another thought until I saw it on his web site tonight. Did not even know it was his web site until tonight.  It is strange seeing my calf for sale on someone else's web site.

I think personal copyright information is very limited on the Internet today because someone can save your picture, and if they alter it in any way they can say it's theirs.

I look forward to hearing what response you get back!

Well a girl from our area just called and talk to this person about his calves for sale and he said the heifer is a Walks Alone that is about 4 months old and she will be in a sale at the end of the month and that the heifer is in Buffalo, Texas right now! Well he had the sire right but she is 3 months old and is located in Punta Gorda ,FL and will be in our sale in March. All I can say right now is WOW, I am speechless!!! What calf is going to be in this sale at the end of the month? Not the one pictured! He did not even alter the picture just stole it off of Facebook.

Just found out that some of the other calves on his site do not belong to him and he is advertising them as his and even stole a video of a calf from Youtube that was already sold in another sale!! WOW what a liar!

If there is that much discrepancy in his stuff I really think you should let people know so that they dont get caught in a fraud, especially if it is an online sale.

Showsteers.com probably has 100 breeders listed and I'm sure the other 99 would love for everyone to not think it might be them.

I don't like to name people on a public site because they may have kids or other family members on here but I am happy to give the name in a personal message and I all I said about showsteers is if you want to know who it is just go thereto find the website and its a breeder from Texas and my picture is right there to see. That does not mean everyone one showsteers is a liar but when your looking at calves for sale just keep an eye for that picture. I am sure the majority of breeders on there are honest and I have personally bought from some of them. So I don't think everyone is going to think they are all liars and that is one reason I posted the picture. Just be CAREFUL when buying a calf when you can not look at in person.

Nothing would surprise me that they do! I bought one from them  and that ended it for for me.  And he went to the salebarn. They do alot of talking and don't raise anything! Everyone around these parts know them and know how they are and what they are doing. Sorry about your pic being stolen. Most of us around central Texas know what the truth is.

Thanks! It's crazy what some people will do. I am still shocked about it. To top it off its not even a great picture of the calf I have better pictures.lol What some people will do to make money. Its a shame they don't care at all about the people they are scamming.

SKF I knew you weren't implying anything about Showsteers or any other breeders.

I think it is respectable the way you handled this situation

Bid on the calf then when you go pick it up show the sheriff a pic.

Fraud. Maybe eliminate you bidding on it but.call the sheriff.
