Hi everyone,

Well I went out on a limb and AI'd one of my best cows (in my opinon) to Weebollabolla Theodore T85 for a 2015 calf. I was hoping so badly for a heifer calf, but I was given a bull calf. At the time I was slightly disappointed as I'd like to expand on the cow's bloodline, but as time progressed I have become tickled pink. In talking with Nic Jobs in Aus he noted that the bulls are hit and miss as far as making bulls, but I think I've gotten a hit on this one so far. I've attached a picture of him from a few weeks ago as I was doing a very rough clip job on him. I'm super pleased with him! We've re-bred the Dam to Theodore for a 2016 calf and I'm crossing my fingers for a heifer calf this time!  (clapping)

Here is a Theodore female that we are flushing right now. She looks exactly like this every month of the year, and has done it on grass in the summer and hay in the winter. She has produced excellent calves and has a super white heifer this year by our Free Spirit bull.  I could use a herd of cows like her. She is fertile, easy fleshing, with a superb udder and milks well.
I have had 3 Theodore calves here in the past. All were bulls and I must say they were good bulls but not great ones. I will say that they certainly seem to have soundness as I sold two of them to a large commercial rancher in 2009 and he still is using them both. Not many bulls of any breed can go through 7 breeding seasons on some of these large ranches and still be capable of going out for another breeding season.

White heifer?  Tell me more!  I know a school teacher who has always kind of had a soft spot for a real good white one!  ;)

The white Free Spirit heifer out of Melita Rose 7048 ( Theodore) was born March 1st/15. BW was 90 lbs. She is a bit greener than our other calves here at home, as she has been with her mom in the ET center since April. I brought the calves off all our donor cows home a couple weeks ago. Even though she is a bit greener right now, I still think she will develop into the best heifer in the pen by next spring. She is thick topped, long bodied and has lots of extension through her front. She has lots of rib so she will develop into an easy keeping female like her mother. We had visitors here from Oklahoma today and they were impressed with her grand mother, Elsie's Jade who is close to 17 years old.

Are you selling the white heifer?

Tell those folks from Oklahoma that there are 2 real nice Elsie's Jade granddaughters selling in MN on November 28th . . . both bred to Hot Commodity!  No border-crossing worries!!

Haha!  The border crossing worries are my worries. If the cattle don't get across the border, they are mine! I haven't decided if I will sell the white heifer or not. If I decide to offer her for sale, you will be the first to know.

Looking at that photo of Free Spirit  -  any available in the US?

Yes I have Free Spirit semen stored at Hawkeye, Adel IA. Last year we sold the European semen rights in him to three breeders in Ireland. They have their first calves this year and are pretty excited about them. A few months ago, Gerald Spry, Sprys Shorthorns, Wagga Waggam NSW, Australia purchased the Australian rights in him. His calves are moderate framed and thick. So far, only 1 calf assisted at birth and it was upside down and backwards. I have not used him on heifers. He is THF, PHAF, DSF and registered in Canada, the UK, Australia and the US herdbooks

I really like the looks of that Theodore bull calf (thumbsup) I am also a big fan of his dam, she was definitely one of the very best cows in the Eionmor Dispersal.
I saw JIT's white heifer calf out of Waukaru Melita Rose 7048 at Davis Rairdan and she was a very good heifer that looked like she would make a really good deep bodied cow.The white animals sold well in the "All Star Classic on Saturday, the white breds averaged $4350 and the heifer calves $3250.
