I know a lot of shows have been canceled as a result of what's going on now..... However, I also know families are still buying steers and continuing to feed steers with hopes of the approaching Fall 2020 and Spring '21 shows still taking place.  Therefore, we gotta keep our steer-eyes sharp.

With that in mind, I wanted to start a conversation about what we on Steerplanet believe a MARKET READY Grand Champion Market Steer should look, and "feel"  like.  With the end product in mind we know it's not always about the look sometimes.

Please express your opinion.  We all know soundness is important as well, but lets keep the thread about appearance. Just curious to see how opinions may or may not differ in relation to what may or may not be trending. If your talking haired or slick, just say so.

No offense, but this is far too broad of a question to get any traction on this message board.

What is YOUR idea of the ideal look of a fat steer with no regard for soundness???

I don't know how you even put it in words.

Every few years you round the corner of the staging area in KC and run into one that just makes you say, "my god". They have everything, and can't really be described. Your mind and body actually feels what your eyes are seeing.

It doesn't even matter what the judge rambles about or if he even actually selects the calf. Everybody who knows, just knows.

Yes, sadly it doesn't matter how good they are sometimes if the right person isnt tailing them in the ring or on the halter, they arent gonna get the slap  <deadhorse>

Balanced, moves like a cat, may not be perfect but has no holes, a little chrome on the head, big hairy ears that are always up and forward, with that cocky look at me attitude. The kind that when their a calf you are instantly drawn to them and then spend an hour or more trying to pick them apart but can't.
