I was wanting to find a pb Charolais bull to cross on some angus cows to get some good replacement heifers to breed clubby. Would want him to put good front ends in them without giving up body and volume, I already like firewater but was looking for something else to, thanks

There was a thread kinda like this last week I think.  I really like the LT Bluegrass 4017 bull or his son LT Ledger.  I'm thinking about doing something very similar to you next year.

Ive only seen one chunky monkey and she was really really nice however she was really crazy, so I'm not judging a bull on one calf but was just curious if anyone else has tried to break them

I know of many Charolais bulls with great maternal traits.  To narrow it down I would need to know the specific traits you are looking to improve, how much calving ease you want, and what kind of environment you will raise them in (management, feed situation etc.).  Keep in mind Charolais breeders in the last years have culled hard for maternal traits.  Most of the herd sires in use today are out of very good cows.
The LT cattle are all very strong maternally with bulls like Western Edge being more all around bulls. I personally like bulls with some LHD Mr Perfect in them as this bloodline has turned out some of the better cows I ever owned. A son is SR/NC Field Rep: http://www.nippcharolais.com/nipp_charolais_web_site_09_006.htm.
If you want steers I would look at a  bull with more power like SVY Pilgrim or TR Firewater.  Montezuma would work well  if you want more hair.
Another bull that would work is Sparrow Birmingham: http://www.semex.com/beef/i?lang=en&beef=view&breed=CH&av=U&view=92 in a more powerful package.

Does Firewater moderate size or breed similar to the cow?

If you goal is in the end to produce club calves then I would lean hard to Troubador from Kris Black.  While he is a 3/4 and not a purebred he will sire much more style, look, and bone then more commercial oriented Char bulls.

Kris Black has A program oriented around the club calf business for years ,he has Troubador and also George a purebred Charolais bull with lots of quality and also some sons of him that might help
your program ...Many of the bulls named are growth oriented and will probly give you more size then is needed ....Some also are not very clean up front and lack the LOOK needed for raising club calves .....

Man when you look at some of the pictures of the Dams of these bulls, you can sure see why they are working in the clubbie world. Allot of very nice looking cows.

To mark h: I want to improve or atleast keep the same growth and maternal traits however I know a lot of charolais have huge front ends and my cows have huge front ends the way it is so I'm trying to avoid making that worse

Does troubadour and yellow jacket add hair in any way? I would want to keep the heifers to breed but didn't know if they add any hair?

I second the idea of Troubadour and YJ , they will both work . Firewater and his sons should work well also . My Troubadour's and YJ's all had nice hair .

The original poster wanted a Purebred bull. Neither YellowJacket or Troubadour is that...

I thought this was about the bull that would turn out the best females...
The best line to add hair is the SVY Freedom line.  Even in the middle of summer freedom calves  have plenty of hair.
After reading some of the replies I would look at CSS Sir Gridmaker 2W.  He is a good show bull that put it in his calves. Lots of guts and bone.  Semen packages are available on this bull- if you want to spend the money: http://www.cedarleafarms.com/#!herdsires.  More pictures: http://www.csscharolais.ca/default.htm

That is true frostback, and that reminded me of something ,I've used our MUDDYwATER bull on Angus cows and very pleased with the results, but in so doing I get about half black calves and the other half are
smoke ....Has worked great especially on raising faantastic females ...  Yellow Jacket is just half blood Charolais so I think he could  throw some black calves ,cremes & smokes ...Troubador is 3/4 Charolais an I think should throw mostly smokes but you should get someones  opinion ...
