Some of our heifers we kept back have I-80 either as either sire or grand sire on either side of pedigree.  A lot the popular calving ease clubby bulls also have I-80 bloodlines.  What is everybody using on their hfrs that wont be to close related.  A couple heifers i plan to sell as breds so should be something buyers like to i suppose.  I have angus semen as last resort but wouldnt mind something else.  Thanks

If you are wanting to stay with Maine, then I would probably use Jose from Nowatzke and Executive Sires.  Calf reports have been pretty good and they have won a few shows.  He looks good as a mature bull and that is the picture they show you for promotion.  A Sooner son or the Sooner clone might be my other choice, the Ali will put the milk to them and the Sooner will take some of it away, other than that they are good as steers or heifers.  Our herd bull is a Sooner and we really like him, he is out of Dunk's Brie and they all come under 80 lbs and built right.  JMO

If you're not afraid of Simmentals, I bet Uno Mas would do the trick! Sexed heifer semen is available too so you can get a good club mama!

Ohlde had him and just sold him to Horton Farms in Ill-Hes way CE and VERY thick-I may post a little on him once they have semen-I think hes a Sultan son 3 way clean and hed be real usefull and already IS one of the best crosses in cattle-Shorthorn X Angus -which makes a very good cross on Maines and Simmintals O0

just had an uno mas x i 80 heifer calf about 75 lbs got up and nursing quick. shes real young but looks pretty cool.

I would not hesitate to use certain Simmental lines on heifers especially uno mas

Thanks guys for all the great options.  Mark i never considered a shorthorn but the jazz bloodlines would be a good option and give a little maternal value to any heifer offspring as well.
