My wife wants photoshop for her birthday to use for family photos, etc.  She is a "scrapbooker".  What version do any of you use?  Its seems they have a bunch of variations.

I have CS2 that came with Illustrator and the rest of their expensive toys.

For someone who's doing scrapbooking, I would look at Photoshop Elements - it's the $99 version that has all the essential parts of the program. You can find good deals on it at newegg.com

I am using photoshop cs 8.0.  You can download any version on adobe's website for 30 days and try it out.

I also use Photoshop Elements.  Maybe your wife is more serious than I think, but I think Elements is all she'll need.  BTW, I bought my grandaughter(computer savvy and waaaay into scrapbooking) a little program just for scrapbooking.  I can't even remember the name of it as I bought on sale at Best Buy for Christmas.  Anyway, she's producing some amazing stuff on it and it was $10.00!  Maybe you can Google 'scrapbooking software" and come up with something easy and good for her.

I have CS3 Design sutie for my Web Design schooling.  Supposed to be getting an update for CS4.  Not sure you could justify the expense for scrapbooking.  Sounds like Elements would be the best fit.

I actually take some photos for folks to use in advertising etc and I mainly use the Photoshop Elements program.  It does some really good stuff and is far less expensive than regular Photoshop

Just a thought...

Just jumped from cs2 to cs4.  Will give an update on how I like it, not super different, but different enough.

I'm anxious to read what you think. I've been toying with making the move but havne't seen anything to get me too excited yet.

I will let you know, I literally just installed it last night.  I should be working with some photos and other projects over the next few days so I will let you know.
