1)    Budzy -  4 yr old Golden Child x Mossy Oak cow, THC, phf, has good bone, hair, muscling, very correct structurally, lacks spring of rib.  First 2 calves out of a line bred Northern Improvement bull that are nice, just a little light muscled.  Bred to I-80 this year.
2)      Darla - 2 yr old out of above cow due this spring with first calf out of Mercedes Benz.  THC, phf.  Smaller framed, and lighter muscled than her mother but good hair, bone and correctness.  Very pretty profile, and deeper ribbed than her dam.  Best looking one of the bunch.
3)      Snickers - 2 yr old Maintainer heifer out of a purebred Angus bull.  Not sure on dam's sire.  Also due this spring with first calf to Mercedes Benz.  Has muscle, frame, correctness, adequate but not heavy boned.  Could use hair, and cleaned up in front end.  She's pretty powerful, but not real feminine.
4)      Peach - 2011 Heifer out of Gigolo Joe x Who Made Who x Ali.  Biggest fault is she toes out in the front, not real wide chested.  She may not be a keeper, looking at breeding her 1 X then either selling her or keeping her as a recept.  Has nice hair, straight, adequate muscle, not real heavy boned,  very clean necked, (too tight, hence the chest issue?)
5)      Cindy - 2011 Heifer out of the line bred Northern Improvement bull and a Heatwave cow.  Dam was thf and phf.  She has a surprising amount of hair, nice rib, moderate muscle and bone.  Pretty correct.
6)    Ethel - 2011 heifer out of Hairy Bear son is sire out of a WMW x Strictly Business cow.  Very correct structurally, lots of hair, adequate, not excessive muscle.  Adequate/Moderate boned.  Do not know th or ph status.

Can't get the pictures to compress sorry.  any help would be appreciated.

If it were me: I'd do myself a favor and breed them all to one bull-- to help get a little consistancy in that small little set of cows.  When you have just a few- it's a waste of time buying a whole cane of semen to breed one cow- then after a few years you have a whole tank of semen- of old stuff that nobody wants to use.  Plus- you have a hodge podge of genetics that will never work on just one bull-- which will really screw you up if you ever decide to invest in a bull.

I would breed them all to one of the following bulls if you are after steers:
Alias- if you consider your cows big enough
Captain Morgan- if you think they could be a notch bigger
both options should stil give you plenty of black calves as well.

Young Money if you want to try for a little color- or would like to stay with Eye Candy/ HW genetics
Tiger Woods- same reasons
Grizzley- basically same reasons- maybe slightly different spin on things.

If you want maternal- then it could be a similar list- but mostly would be a completely different list of Sim, Maine, and Angus bulls and high percentage ones.

Personally, I think the two smoke bulls are your best options!

wait, I didn't see that the bottom 3 were 2011 born heifer calves.. for their first calf- I would make a list of Angus bulls you like- and throw a dart at it.

Then after their first calf- follow the advice I gave above. (lol)

As most are carriers, I advise using something that is clean.   (One bull as BS suggested)

I may be wrong, but did you see anything on my list that is not 2x clean?
I think Jody is right, only one that might not be is Young Money. I found Traush's 2011 directory where it says Pending but that could have been updated by now...Everything else is Double Clean.

As most of the females are carriers:

Just backing you up-     Relax my man (thumbsup)

Somewhere I thought Captain Morgan was a carrier, re-checked and found him to be clean.

Certainly would consider BW in bull selection.

After pictures, I stand by my original opinion.  I don't think that any of the bulls I mentioned have monsterous birth weights, accept maybe Grizzley-- and he's been promoted for use on heifers. (argue).

Now, on the final three heifer calves, birth weight is a must- thus my modification of my original statement.

Good luck with what you choose-- I'm sure you'll have a million suggestions pointed your way-- and most people will want you to match up each cow with a different bull-- and in the long run-- have you purchase semen on 7 different bulls- to breed 6 cows.

Thanks for the comments so far.  I can see the advantages of using 1 or 2 bulls for inventory management and herd management.  I can also see the advantage of using a specific bull for each one.  If only breeding were that simple!  ;)  Full sibs can look very different, much less total strangers.  Would anyone think Predator is an option?  Jeff

look at it this way: breeding with 3-4-5 way composite cattle-- is a crap shoot anyways in terms of predictability.  And I bet if you did a poll of the people on here "about when doing match making bull: cow matings"-- the success rates I bet wouldn't be very high.

I don't know anything about Predator- but I think there was a post further down discussing him.

The way i look at it you have 3 cows with some experience and 3 heifers. My advice is take Jody's list on the cows. On the heifers find a angus bull with calving ease genetics for the heifers.  To me SAV Pioneer isn't a bad choice by any means.
