Who thinks this is the same calf????? I am not impressed!!!!

I wasn't going to comment but caved. I really was certain this was the same animal but there are two things besides the obvious loss of condition that I noticed. Did you put some kind of tag in his left ear? It appears that there is something in his ear in the video and nothing at all in the picture.   Also, from the comparing the video and the pictures there seems to be a LONG difference in his sheath length. I can take into account the hair growth but I don't think this is the case. However, there does appear to be a line from clipping on his tail when you look at the video from a rear angle. One thing is for sure.  He IS blind! I wouldn't have accepted this bull/steer when he showed up on the trailer. Hard lesson.  Sorry.

yes he is blind.. no he is not totally blind, has some side to side vision.. you can tell this, as everytime the stops, his head goes in same place to keep an eye on the person..  If he were totally blind.. he would run into the fence as well. 

We had a blind calf once, that just walked in a circle all day long, we kept it in a pen in the shed, but after a while.. It had a regular ole cowpath wore into the straw.. with an entrace to the hay bunk, and one going to the water..  Really weird thing was  his bed.. just like a deer bed.. same spot every time..  He always walked with his head held as high as he could get it.. I guess he had some vision towards the bottom.. Such as a bull with blinders on. 

I think i t's the same calf.. Just different hair style, and lack of feed. Honestly, dont' think the lack of feed might even be as impressive as most are saying it is.  I think a lot of it's cosmo.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion....this is legitimate footage of what that calf looked like no hiding anything...there was no way he would ever breed a cow so how could there be any value in that even if he did get into better shape!

Yes, legit video footage...  but unless you yourself took the phone pic.. that may not be legit, with the hair and presentation skills these days..  I'm not against you man.. It wasn't right by any means.

even in the clipped pics I would like to see his muscle carry into his lower quarter better, that said I don't think they're the same calf by virtue of the shaggy head and he does appear to have shrunk a little bit

I don't know if it's the same calf or not , I do know the calf in the video would be in the sick pen , he ain't right.

To me, I think it is probably the same calf. Did you purchase the calf prior to his arrival at your place? If he was OK when you purchased him, and this happened after that and before he was shipped to you, then I could see where there could be some contraversy. I think many people would still stand behind the calf but I also know it is a grey area to some people. I purchased a heifer a few years ago for pretty good coin, and she died before trucking couild be arranged, and I had to eat the loss. The seller was willing to give me another heifer, but since the death was not his fault, I did not think this would be fair to him, so I refused his offer. Its hard for any of us to decide what is right or wrong when we don't have all the details of the deal or what happened.

I'm not going to geuss wether it's the same calf or not. I geuss my question is. If you gave big money for him & thinking about pursuing some kind of legal action , why did you ship him ? I mean if you knew for sure they weren't going to do anything & you didn't have a whole lot in him , then I would have gone ahead & shipped him & cut my losses. But , if I gave a lot for him & was going to pursue legal action , then I would have kept feeding him & part of the lawsuit would have included the board. I geuss the big thing is, I don't know anything about your court system in Canada & what you can & can't do.

A question that I have, & I'm not blaming, accusing anyone of any wrong doing, but what was your agreement as to arrangements and time frame to get the calf picked up. There are so many "buyer's" that move onto another calf and seem to forget about getting the ones that they have boughten picked up in a timely matter. Again I'm not saying that it would in anyway justify not getting you the exact calf that you did buy. The question just kept going through my mind.

I think that the guy sent you one of the yellow tagged calves. He should stand behind his cattle and make it right

This WHOLE story, from the pics ,to the video, to selling him at a sale barn, all seems really fishy. If this was really purchased from a breeder, WHY oh WHY would you sell him at the sale barn. You get rid of your only proof/evidence to go after him.  In doing that you totally let the breeder off the hook 100%. OR, this is a bunch of made up BS.  I certainly hope someone would not make up a story like this. But if this is true, NAME THE BREEDER. You could prevent a disaster for another cattlemen. At this point you aren't worried about offending him are you?

Thats what i was wondering, easy to miss blindness in a  picture and even easier to have thickness or dimension decieved just by a picture angle

What I have gathered u bought a supposed promo bull off a pic. I don't know anyone that would spend the kind of money promo bulls are worth off a pic.

Hold on here. Raymond buys and sells quality stock. That is a fact and it is irrefutable. If he buys one from you, rest assured the check is good. Whether you like how he markets or what he has to say, the fact is if he bought the calf in the picture and the calf in the video showed up, he deserves satisfaction.

I defy you to find any standards and conditions with any breed association that would endorse selling a blind bull as acceptable.

Alls I can say is karma will always come back to getcha.. I don't feel sorry for you a bit...

I don't think we have the full story here but I wonder why someone would by a bull and not insure him as soon as the sale is done.  Was the bull certified by a vet as a breeder?  I know thats hard on some of these younger bulls b/c of the lack of being able to do a good semen test but alot of vets will do a health check and that animal can still be insurable.  I know that most people that sell bulls for a living will not let animals stay at there place after they are sold unless they are insured.  We sell all our bulls privately off the farm and still get guys to insure them if they are going to leave them at our place untill its convenient to them.  I hope that there will be chance for this to be resolved between the breeders.
