Wye Angus Sale Catalog
« on: March 03, 2015, 08:11:22 AM »
You might not like these, but the breeding is interesting. These animals mature slowly, but by 3 or 4 years they are impressive. Not defending it, just saying.
All these Churchill sons are unusual and there is a lot of stuff up close to some of the oldest genetics on the herd.
Lot 20, for instance. And lot 32 looks uncannily like Valour of Ardrass. (To me)
1 Valour of Ardrass
2 Prince of Malpass
3 Geordus

And 4,
a picture I found that I have never seen before. I can't read the writing, maybe Jute of Jeshurun or something? Anybody know who this bull is?
The source should be Hague Angus, but their links are messed up with advertising.

Interesting.  Thanks for sharing.  As you point out, performance isn't up there with the top of the breed but it is better than I imagined.  Most bulls are at least 1000lbs at 365 and many are pushing 1200lbs.  I think you'll see that in more bull sale catalogs than you'd think, especially with the low birthweights these bulls have.  I find it interesting that the scrotal measurements are, in many cases, below the minimum threshold (for 12 months) of 32cm and almost all are below 33cm (14 month min).  How can they sell bulls that wouldn't pass a Breeding Soundness Exam?
