For a breeding hfr, #58 gets my vote. More feminine and smooth in her makeup than #38. Also she is better from hooks to pins ( in terms of levelness ) than 38. Neither are bad hfrs but I like the bottom one better for my taste in a breeding hfr.

I agree I like #58 more she is more narrow made then the other but it's not hard to correct when breeding, but with her being narrow made I would worry a little about how easily she will calve

To offer a different opinion, I'd go with the broody, thicker heifer.  The narrower heifer will place in the middle of the pack (or lower) at every show.  She's not particularly impressive in any way but has few major flaws (from the pics).  While the thicker heifer isn't perfect she is impressive in the amount of width, depth, and mass that she carries.  She's the kind of heifer that will place either first or last.  Either the judge will love her volume and thickness or he'll hate her coarse shoulder.  Might as well shoot for the moon.

The top heifer (#38), in my opinion, quite easily. Large advantage in base width, muscle, and rib shape. She has plenty of length and extension. She will grow into that loose front, which isn't that bad. The second heifer is easily the more feminine fronted and squarer hipped, but in the end that top heifer has way more power and performance.

Well in my opinion both are nice in different ways. I like the second heifer personally being that she is cleaner in her front, doesn't cut in her flank like the first heifer, she is also more feminine. That being said, she is narrower in her pins and doesn't have the bold spring of rib from behind that the first one does. However I do like the first heifers width and power.

The opinions on these two heifers have been appreciated as its nice to get others views. We are pretty much a split household on these two as well. I like how powerful the 38 heifer is as she's not your typical Angus. My wife likes the 58 heifer for her look on the profile. It will be interesting too see how they progress and which one has the most success in the ring and later as they enter production.
