    can't register calves

And we stand behind that. We also don't sell embryos, so I'm not sure what your point is. You have a product, if you don't like it, you RETURN it to get a refund! You can't expect something for nothing, you will always be disappointed. We have been on the receiving end of a mess sort of like...

    can't register calves

Get your money back??? Are you planning to send them back the resulting calves you have? I get that they might be worth a bit less than you thought originally, but damages seems a bit out of line. I suppose you could come up with a valuation for them as the pedigree said and a valuation for what...

    Nose rings

I wasn't saying I show bulls without rings.....pretty much have to everywhere I know of anyhow. I was simply saying they must have the right temperament, or the ring don't mean squat. I've been in enough champion drives with over a dozen bulls that I am well aware how little that ring does when...

    Nose rings

I frequently refer to nose rings for BULLS as emergency brakes. I never show one that needs the ring to be lead or reprimanded any more that a quick "I'm the boss here" sort of thing. A ring in the nose of a 2300 pound bull does not get you cooperation or respect if they do not already have it...

    March Madness Show

Is anyone here attending the show in Albert Lea, MN this weekend? A young guy we work with will have some there with our limi breeding. Just curious....

Anyone experience this type of problem with show calf? 10 days away from OYE

Impossible to get out is an understatement! Works well as a maintenance routine during off season though....

Anyone experience this type of problem with show calf? 10 days away from OYE

Yes sir! My siblings and I grew up with a baby sitter who was a track barn rat.....oh the stories!

Anyone experience this type of problem with show calf? 10 days away from OYE

Pine Tar! I grew up using it on our horses religiously, and have found that if you can get close enough to paint it on, it works wonders on cattle. We use it on anything with soft horn (light hooves), cracks, abscesses, etc. It cheap and effective. I would not use it so close to a show though...

    2015 Missouri State Fair

Those rules are a lot like the ones at the WI state fair. And yes, they do enforce them. They have a committee that reviews any violation complaints and hands down penalties as they deem necessary. The main difference in WI is that any junior with a wristband can work on, fit, feed, etc. any...

    Our Red Angus bull

Do you have a picture of him from the Iowa state fair or before? Its always interesting to see the progression on these big guys.

Sounds like he needs a vacay and some good mineral.

    Donkeys for halter breaking

I have heard that a donkey not raised from a foal with cattle will tend to attack calves. Our Jack had a wonderfull disposition, especially for a stud. He, however, came from a Clydesdale farm and was used for breaking their colts to lead. He had been around cattle, but never pastured with them...

    Donkeys for halter breaking

In my experience, the donkey teaches stop and go. The donkey will do and do what he wants and the calf just learns it is easier to give in and follow along. We had an excellent jack that broke yearling heifers and bulls, but I would be hesitant to try on anything taller than the donkey. He can...

Update on Daughter's first Year Beef Project

Wow! Excellent job. Looks like a lot of hard work really paid off for your daughter. And by the way, that is a pretty great steer that would have competed really well at some of the bigger shows around here recently. I don't know where you're from, but judges in the midwest really liked the big...

    solid gold

Thanks for the input! She should have a bit more hair to work with by the next show, so we will keep your critique in mind. She is/was bred to one of our calving ease Limi bulls, but they thought she may have cycled at expo. Will have the vet out to check her out soon. I understand sometimes...
