My ADM rep told me they are the same feed. He just mainly sold the textured because show cattle folks wanted to be able to see whats in their feed. ;) He said the benefit to the pellet was being able to store it longer.
One of the kids I haul around to shows had a heifer start doing that this summer. I called it "playing a game". She would sling her head, but not move her feet, and the kid would lead her out and circle her back in to line up. Finally decided the heifer was just trying to get her to move her...
I have been using Conversation. Before they changed the Angus EPDs, his CE was plenty high to comfortably breed to heifers. I'm still breeding heifers to him. I don't think I've had a calf bigger than 80 lbs sired by him (including one 55 lb. and two 60 lb. calves).
I guess, for me, it would depend on what his goals are for his herd. If he's looking for performance type cattle, I'd probably pass. If he's looking to raise show calves, she would be worth a shot.
3 heifers and 1 bull. Unfortunately lost one of the heifers though due to a freak injury. The restof the calves are growing good and both heifers have a super good look to them.
Give SAC Conversation a look. I've had 4 calves sired by him this fall and none over 72 lbs. He has good numbers and I'm really happy with my calves. Saw some good one sired by him in KC a few weeks ago too.
