having put in embryos for quite a few years now, for ourselves and for others...there are a number of costs that the receipt herd incurs that aren't real evident...avg. pregnancies achieved is 50%, so 50% of the cows are at least bred on one cycle later....(lighter and younger calf at weaning)...
in South Dakota, we have followed wheat or oats or barley with fall cover crops; if we have enough moisture it will work fine; if we are short on moisture the following spring, we will take it in the shorts with next year's crop. It's hit and miss.
hope you've gotten her in and checked her by now; if the calf is full breech, often the cow won't go into labor; or if the calf is huge and the uterus is so stretched it may not go into a good labor; or sometimes, she just don't go into a good labor for who knows why but our vet will c-section...

Matt has 2 September 2017 born purebred Simmental heifers, one sired by Broker and the other sired by Relentless...both are just awesome.
they are located in Oklahoma.
How sad to see this baby;
after having thousands of calvings, we have seen alot....

nose rings will bring even the most obnoxious animals to submission.

Voyager is older but very tested and Mercedes is not as old but tested....
one thing you don't do is use a new "calving" ease sire; too many times they don't hold out
to their calving ease and you end up with a mess
before we flush a papered cow we always do the DNA work and have results back before we flush because you just never ever know what DNA work may show......
even a cow born on our own place has the off chance of something not checking out.
would assume that before flushing and for sure before...
