Personally, I'd be more concerned with acidosis initially.. We added sodium bicarb to a ground hay mix & set it in feed bunks for them to help with acidosis last winter after softball size hail decided to stroll through our area & leave all our fields flat... Not sure how to limit intake to...
Same concerns in Southwest Nebraska. We just got through swathing one pivot of sorghum-sudan & averaged around 900 ppm nitrates & a field of dryland s-s that averaged over 2200 ppm.. going to have to grind & mix accordingly... Guys around here also do the turnips under a pivot, but we've turned...
