LTF Simmentals - We did end up using DMCC Fully Loaded last summer and ended up with a handful of calves. They look really good right now, plenty of rib and muscle. Their growth is decent, not outstanding but still good compared to our Angus sired calves. He does throw a little bit of white but...
I calves out 10 heifers bred to 1143Y and had no trouble. We only pulled one and that was because it was already late and didn’t want to wait for her. Biggest calf was 80lbs but most were in the 75 lb range. But they grow like crazy and impress me every day. They turned out better than our...
We had a show steer that had pink eye and ended up with a white spot on the showman's side eye. He's a pretty good steer but I wondered if a judge would knock him down because of it? He's not a state fair winner but a decent county fair steer. Thanks!
Not finding anything on the internet. Does anyone know the cost of Importing mature bulls from Canada to US? Also, do you have to quarantine them for a certain time? Thanks in advance.
Loaded Up or his full brother W/C Lock N Load 1143Y are really making clean fronted calves while keeping the power. We are going to try another full brother DMCC Fully Loaded this year to see how they compare.
Check out BCII's Next Up Angus bull. He seems to add a lot of muscle and power to shofter made females. We used him on a simmi cow last year and that bull calf was stout and stylish.
We finished calving our WC 1143Y calves yesterday and we are very impressed. All the calves are growing great and getting stouter everyday! He does throw a lot of white if there is much on the dam and puts some white on ones out of all black dams. Birthweights were moderate, 75 to 85lbs, so I...
I bought a group of heifers that had some bred to 1143Y. An HPF Steel Force Z316 heifer had twin bull calves. out of 1143Y. Both were about 70lbs. They are stout and looking good.
Thanks for the replies. Cowman, using the 3% rule, estimating her weight at 800lbs (we dont have scales) would mean feeding her 24lbs of feed. And yes she gets all the brome hay she wants. I have fed cattle for 10 years now and have never fed any that much unless they were a hard doing big...
I have shown Simmis for years but I have my first Angus heifer to show. How do you keep the pones and tailhead from getting to fat. The heifer needs more condition but is already getting pones. Currently feeding 12% protein 3%fat and 10lbs once a day. Top dressing with fresh and feminine. Thanks...
