    Implant help

Revalor G is for cattle on grass. It's 1/3 the potency of Revalor S. No exactly sure what your goal is, but I don't think you'll experience any adverse effects. You can still give a terminal implant to the lighter calves in January, or if you want, just slit the back of their ears now and pop...

    Using Lute

Lutalyse is a prescription drug. I can't believe your vet sold it to you without instructing you on its proper use. As an abortant, you need to wait 10-14 days after breeding. That heifer is bred, even if you don't think she looks like it. Do the math - when was she bred? You say fall. She could...

    Using Lute

How soon after breeding did you give the Lutalyse? Have you preg checked the heifer?

    Daddy's Money Calves

I would call him calving ease, although I had a big one out of a THC cow. I got 68 & 72 pound heifer calves out of a 2 and 3 yr old. The calves have good rib shape and capacity, correct rear leg set, clean fronted, and decent hair. I am a bit disappointed with the amount of muscle the calves carry.

About surveys, help an FFA member.

A quick and easy 10 question survey. You don't need to have participated in a NASS survey in order to take the survey. Help an FFA'er out. Good luck from South Dakota, Clara. Hope you advance to national competition.

    Opinion on Heifer?

LOVE that rear shot. What is her pedigree? She is quite green now. It will be a while before you need to worry about getting her too fleshy, but I appreciate that you want to be careful with her condition. I would feed about 2% of her body weight as a grain ration, maybe 25%oats/75%corn with a...

    can't register calves

I'm guessing that out of a non-documented dam that they want her tested for genetic defects? Is she still around to do this?

    can't register calves

Kind of hard to collect damages from Thomas' when you paid Polzin for the embryos. Polzin needs to make it right with you and let them settle things with Thomas.

    You be the judge

The top heifer (#38), in my opinion, quite easily. Large advantage in base width, muscle, and rib shape. She has plenty of length and extension. She will grow into that loose front, which isn't that bad. The second heifer is easily the more feminine fronted and squarer hipped, but in the end...

    twins question

Unfortunately there's only a one in ten chance it will be fertile. I've heard you can test by trying to insert a test tube into her vulva. If you can, she will have a viable reproductive tract, if not, you're out of luck. There is a blood test if you want a more definitive answer, but the odds...

    Maine Bulls

I have had 5 Maine Man calves. 91, 94, and 95 birth weights and a set of twins 60 & 65. From my experience you would really want to make sure the cows you breed him to are deep, soggy cows that are high in their tail head. He will not add depth of body in my limited experience and he throws a...

    PB Angus Heifer

Strikes against her - she's a July, she's sired by a clean-up bull (unless your neighbor is a well-known breeder). She's probably worth more to you than anyone else, plus you like the cow line. I'd keep her.
