Let's give Fort Worth and Dr Mark Johnson Credit

It was nice fwssr make the needed changes to the make up area and lining up the classes and i applaud them. There are a couple more changes i think would improve the quality of the show. One is the classification process. I feel the  exhibitor or substitute exhibitor from their county should...

county fair show- groomed or slick?

I didn't read thru all the post but will add this.  Our county once showed with hair.  The same type of Families that you have upset were in our county as well.  They changed the rule to slick shear and guess what? The same families continued to win.  Why, because they are the ones who put in...

My Daughters Record Setting County Steer!!

We were very blessed this weekend with a $31,000 record setting bid on my daughters Grand Champion steer.  She has worked very hard over the years, seven to be exact, to get to this point and everyone is so proud of her. She also continued her undefeated run of sevens years winning steer and...

    Optaflexx

There is no way I would implant and starts it and this point unless your steer is super fat and super sound.  I don't think I would do both at this point for SA no matter what.  If you steer is eating well the flexx should be sufficient. Yes, it does work but you will not put on fat once you...

    Jackpot show judging trends

It seems to me that what your seeing was the trend here in Texas 4-6 years ago but it is slowly going back the other way at this time.  Maybe people are figuring out these heifers that were meant to be steers aren't the best when turned out to pasture?

    working calf hair

Hair health is very important in slick shear steers as well.  You will want healthy skin and coat when you do slick him off for show.  You may also want to jackpot your steer leading up to your target show and if so you will want to have a nice trained hair coat to look your best in the ring. ...

    Calving Easy Bull

I think I would like more info before I could concider him a CE bull.  Just beacuse he is out of an Ali son and weighed 60lbs, out of a first calve heifer, at birth doesnt in my opinion make him CE.
