I saw Walkie Talkie a couple weeks ago and my comment would be the same. Texas Twister on the other hand is a full frame score taller. Both were long spined and traveled well.
DLZ, as you have probably gathered from the posts above, length of spine really has very little to do with whether or not a calve covers their tracks. There are numerous factors involved in how a calve travels with length of spine being one of the least important. In my opinion, and with all...
What are the details of your steer at this time? ADG, current weight, current fat cover, is he sound, what about his temperament, how much and what are you feeding him, and what are you wanting to accomplish with an implant?
Sorry to hear about this. Someone will have themselves one heck of a steer at a very reasonable price. If I hadn't just purchased one at camp this weekend I would be headed North. Congrats on the Chi, the Gooden steer was very nice, it was a wise decision to run him Chi. G-Luck
I was going to give you some important information on Selenium and the possibility of toxicity in cattle but instead I will encourage you to do a little research yourself and read up on the proper amounts that cattle should be given. If there is already Selenium in your feed, and then you add...
We have been fortunate enough to have had a profitable show career up to this point. We may be the exception to the rule in this department I don't know but it has not been a losing investment on our part. A lot of the things mentioned above are the real reason we do this, except for the fact...
Both of these steers are out of shorthorn cows. The red one we raised last year out of Walks Alone and the red/white one we are showing this year is out of a Heat Wave son named Wise Guy.
Yes, and the OP said he was just a little stiff in the stifle, so that is why I recommended it. I see plenty of train wrecks as a show steer Chiropractor and have told many people that such and such additive will not help.
If a horse, human, ect. system can metabolize supplements and see results then why couldn't a show steer? Do you believe vitamins work at all? If so then why wouldn't it be beneficial?
#1 but let me ask you a question. Do you think there is ''the right bull'' out there for every cow and it is just a matter of finding the right combination. And once you find it #1 can be achieved?
He's not proven yet but General Lee, Monopoly X Sooner, should do the trick. Sooner is a proven oldie but goodie and Monopoly, well we know what he can do. I have a couple Sooner cows and both are big ribbed and pretty. I'm pretty sure Bushy Park Farms sold a Sooner heifer for over 40,000 and...
We do not tie in front of fans unless we are working them. They migrate to them naturally and lye in front of them all day. Hay at night after working/feeding is complete. Free choice water 27/7. Here is a picture of our set up. There is about 8' of space behind the calves where 5 fans are...
Did you read his post? He states weaned calves weighing 600lbs. To me creep is fed to nursing calves to increase ADG and weaning weight. What is ''creep feed" mean to you ?
Every time you start to gain a little respect from me you come off with a comment like this...
Have you considered going to a grower ration on 600lb weaned calves as opposed to a creep feed? At that weight I would have them on a 12% protein 3% fat feed consisting of oats, corn, cottonseed hulls, ect.
