    Rodgers-Deadliest Catch

Yeah we saw him in Denver, but I didn't pay that much attention.  I believe their is video of him somewhere.

    Dead bottle calf

In the past we have had some trouble with our bucket calf ventures and then inevitably you have a broken hearted child.  This year we went about it a bit different we assumed the calf had, had nothing, no colostrum,  no injections of any kind and I will be the first to say we have had much...

    Strange Scenario...

Wow that is rough.  Better luck next time.  Go with your gut on keeping the heifer.

    Which is better?

We always use OB chains and put one loop above the fetlock joint and a second half-hitch loop  below it.  We have had good luck with this method.

    Amen

Thanks MCSC.  I saw that thread on here before and a couple others.

    Amen

Thanks for the info Mark.  Yeah he has a pretty big BW, but I figured they were just being honest.  92 lbs square compared to 92 lbs elongated makes a huge difference though.  I would definitely use him on a mature cow, still makes me a bit nervous.  I just cannot convince myself to use him and...

    Amen

Has anyone seen Amen, seen any calves out of Amen, have any information about Amen that they would like to share?  I saw some pictures of calves on a blog or something a couple months ago and now cannot find anything and no one seems to be talking about him either.  I was thinking about using...

    prolapysed uterus..

We have never personally experienced this situation thank goodness, but a friend of ours had a heifer do the same thing.  She went on to have a productive life.  She even had some huge calves that had to be pulled forcefully and never prolapsed again.  She eventually got culled for other...

    Hired Man or Tiger Woods

Compared to his clean counterparts and essentially every other calf we have ever had on our place.  We don't have dirty cows and have never had a THC calf. :)

    Hired Man or Tiger Woods

We have a TW out of a clean shorthorn cow.  He isn't to shabby.  He is small footed and I would like to see him thicker in general.  He came easy, but that was out of a mature, eight yr old cow.

    Anxious steer?

I am guessing you have never had a "barn sour" horse, or if you have it is the same problem you are having with your steer.  He thinks his work is done when he turns back for the barn and he is just getting in a hurry to be lazy.  You just have to out smart him.  Don't let him think that every...

    Lost a calf

Sorry for your loss.  It is never easy, but speaking from experience I think it is more difficult to swallow when you just have a few head.  So much planning goes into those little buggers and losing one is such a blow.  When it happened to us it was a learning experience that really changed...

    induce labor?

Not that you need to hear this again, but here goes....We have only ever induced 1 time.  Everything turned out fine, but according to our vet who is a really great cattle vet it isn't something that you take lightly and it can end up in a wreck.  Just be as patient as you can and be there to...

    Better calving ease bull???

I know everyone on here is probably sick of me saying this, but Tiny Tim has worked better for us for "calving ease" than any other bull we have tried and that includes calving ease Angus sires.  A.) We have BW in our genetics and we have never had calves smaller than our Tiny Tim's.  B.) In...

Those weights seem pretty good for a set of triplets.  Pretty cool.

    Tiny Tim calf

Thank you.  We have been holding off on really feeding him because we don't weigh in until this weekend, but after that we are going to get after him.  He is out of a real average Hardcore Heifer.  He weaned in September at about 750lbs.
