What do I tell my Little girl

Hey, whatever she wants to do.  Sounds to me like she's recovering pretty well.  If you aren't sure about it, maybe do want she wants you to do?  I know if in that  situation I would want to know what it looked like, but not necessarily by seeing it myself.  I also wouldn't want to be standing...

    Our First State Fair

Stay relaxed!  In all actuality, its just another show!  Just make sure you know where they are on the schedule, and give yourseof plenty of time for your class.  Go out and do what you've done all year.  Even if you drag bottom, that doesn't mean you have a bad heifer, there will be a bunch of...

    Calving

The theory behind it is to feed in the evening for daytime calves.  There is something that animals typically go off feed 12 hours before they go into labor...don't know how much I believe that though-may just be that my critters are food lovers.  It worked for me, and works for a lot of the big...

    city folk and weaning

Last year a friend had the humane society called on him for inhumane weaning.  The person that did it was a friend of theirs...only house within a mile or two of the pasture.  The society came out and inspected everything and gave him the fenceline weaning lecture...when they got done he told...

Bluing shampoo stained my calf purple today!

True!  It is always the white ones that feel the need to be filthy.  Luckily I don't have those to deal with, just stains on the butt/hip from laying in it.  Hence, the importance of reading and following directions!

Bluing shampoo stained my calf purple today!

Give him a WASH, not rinse.  Regular shampoo will be better but use whatever you have.  If it happens again, you should wash the spots immediately again and a lot of times it will get it worked out.  That is why I don't use stain buster on their whole body

    Hair On Showpigs

Don't know if sullivans recommends it for pigs, but stain buster is great...give it a few washes to get it gone, but it is doing wonders here

    asparagus

This time of year don't eat it yourself.  Catch it at the first growths in the spring till about early June and cut close to ground when it gets about 8 inches tall. When it gets big and woody, with all the branches coming out of it, I will cut it and give to my sheep and the cow.  They all...

    Belt buckles for fairs

From showing horses I have gotten a variety of them.  Here are my opinions on the brands I've won. Montana silver-  eh, okay, but they aren't anything special.  Not much variety in the designs, see many of the exact same style just from a different event.  Once you get one better you don't go...

    appropriate or not?? (belt buckle)

Imo, as someone who is very particular about my showmanship and have many pet peeves in the class.  I would say it is fine...I'd rather be beaten by you wearing it, than a girl with her boobs hanging out, or her shirt half way up her back.  It might be blessing under many judges LOL.

Cattle really need a site like champion drive for sheep and the pig planet for hogs!  All sorts of show results with picture...most have breeder name next to it if known.  Plus breeder links, interviews with judges, big winners,  "old" winners (like 5 years after they age out), and successful...

    Heatwave 5 Heifer

Vc...I was referring to breeders I personally know and work with that are very successful at creating high quality animals that can win.  One of which was a partial owner of babe Ruth.  Imo...they know good cattle and how make them and pick them...they've been doing it for a while and I respect...
