Questions about an old angus bull

That pretty much echoes what my rep said.  He said to use him on my 004 females and other wide based females.  We had just bought a few straws when we needed a calving ease bull.  I can't complain about the two Matrix calves I've had though.  The bull was thick made (must have come from the...

Questions about an old angus bull

I have a Matrix heifer out of a 1407 daughter.  She is really nice made & smaller framed than her dam--but her dam is a pretty big framed cow.  She has never been real wide from the rear and my Genex rep said that Matrix calves tend to be narrower in the rear end.  She is raising a heck of a...

    Late Spring calf pics

I posted pics of some of my earlier calves a while back and thought I'd post a few of the April & May calves that I took today.  (1)  Angus heifer sired by Mytty In Focus out of a S S Objective cow (2) Angus heifer sired by Bextor out of a TC Stockman 365 cow (3) Angus heifer sired by Marathon...

    Sick calf question

I've raised lots of bottle calves. Even the best ones are a pain!  My dad used to buy them by the dozens when I was in high school and college.  I think we had 30 or so at one time once or twice.  I've got one in the barn now.  I think he was a twin (never found the other one--coyotes?).  He...

    Sick calf question

I agree with several feedings of less than the normal amount for a few days.  Also, get some probiotic into him daily.  Probably one with some vitamins and minerals like Vita Charge.  CAB is right that the sulfa boluses should have taken care of any coccidia.  The kaopectin is a good idea too. ...

    Honda side by side

Decided to go with the Ranger 500.  Found a really clean used 2009 at a pretty good price.  I had read about the heat problem but I heard it was mainly a problem with the 700 & 800.  So far so good.

    Honda side by side

They must be as uncommon everywhere else as they are around here! (lol)  Leaning toward a Polaris Ranger 500 anyway.

    Honda side by side

I've been looking at side by sides and ran across a used Honda Big Red.  I didn't realize Honda still made them.  I mainly see Polaris Rangers, Kawasaki Mules & Teryx, and John Deere Gators around here.  Does anyone own one or have any experience with one?

    Hauling Post-Breeding

I went to a repro conference a couple of years ago...they said it was safe to move 3-5 days after A.I. and then don't stress them until 45 days post breeding.  The embryo isn't fully implanted until 45 days.

    Overhead fan arm

I've got  one my Dad made several years ago.  It's about 7 ft. tall and has around a 3 ft. top bar.  It's all one piece.  It has two brackets on the upright bar that can be adjusted up and down and secured in place to nail, screw, or wire the stand in place.

Which bull Stitz Upward or EXAR Upshot

I've got no experience with Upshot, but I have an Upwards female that I'm really pleased with.  All the Upwards sired cattle I've seen are pretty consistent as far as phenotype.

Should sale catalogs still be mailed out?

My Dad won't touch a computer!  So online catalogs are no good for someone like him.

    Lost a Cidr

Pretty sure she lost it.  She's real gentle, so I got a pretty good look.  I will check though when she goes through the chute. ;D

    Lost a Cidr

What should I do?  I put cidr's in 14 cows last Tuesday.  Planning on pulling them this afternoon and giving Lutalyse, then breeding Friday morning.  I just noticed this morning that one of the cows appears to have lost her cidr.  I don't know when she lost it.  I'm thinking I should go ahead...

    Ultimate SHOW cattle trailer

I've been really happy with the quality of our 4star.  It's just a 24 ft. stock trailer and we use it to haul everything---show calves, bulls, cows, calves, horses (if we need to haul more than 3)...  It's 9 years old and still good as new! (thumbsup)i

Is this the thickest Shorthorn heifer you've seen?

She does remind me alot of my neighbor's Piedmontese cattle.
