Man In Black is a Chi/Maine/Shorthorn/Angus composite sired by All About You (Heat Seekers full brother).

    OCC Legend Son-Masher

I told you guys wrong on the cow side of Masher (see kids thats why drinking before breakfast is bad), she is indeed sired by Man In Black, but out of a Cigar daughter that I'm told goes back to a BF Duke? cow that may have originated at Phil Launter's. None the less, thanks for all the good...

    Aubrac cattle

Hey Simmgal..they are muscled very well (but not a double muscled breed) so they tend to weigh more than their moderate frame would make you think. They are a maternal continental breed, so the females are efficient and awesome, but if someone was looking for a breed that could handle a bunch of...

    Aubrac cattle

Interesting and scary at the same time! I have had the chance to visit with a few of the French Aubrac breeders on the phone. I have not wasted my time when invited to go over there and tour their herds, as we would most likely not see eye to eye. When I asked one guy about the horns, ugly...

One more pic... This is a mid March Masher bull calf out of a 12 year-old Composite cow.

TJ, you are welcome to stop by anytime. That goes for anyone that wants to take a chance on being subjected to my wacked out theories! I would enjoy any visitors. As promised on the Masher post, here are some more Aubrac pics. The first one is a 44% polled Aubrac 1st calf heifer. We used some...

    OCC Legend Son-Masher

I'm targeting the 1/4 to 3/8 shot of Aubrac in my composites and no more than 50% in my Angus/Aubrac Hybrids. We do have 10 elite higher % Aubrac cows that we continue to breed to 7/8's or higher bulls for foundation stock. I will post some new pics on the Aubrac post of some higher % cattle.

His dam is sired by Man In Black and an Angus cow.

    OCC Legend Son-Masher

Thanks for all of the nice comments from the Aubrac Cattle post! More precisely, all of the good feedback on our Legend son-Masher. For those of you that did not get to see him you can go to our Hybrid page at www.fickecattle.com. I have also included a couple pasture pics of Masher this morning...

    Aubrac cattle

Morning TJ! I have been trying to work out my trips for a couple years to stop by and go through your program. I have a gentleman in Kentucky that is very interested in purchasing heifers from me for Fall delivery. If that happens, I am planning on giving you a call to set up a time to stop by...

    Aubrac cattle

LOL-no problem Telos! In fact one thing I know for certain with this breed is people either love um or hate um, no in between. I have had the chance to watch more than a 1000 Aubracs and % Aubracs "move out". I have seen my share of ugly Aubracs, but I have never seen one that had any problems...

    Aubrac cattle

Thanks for the compliments and questions, Telos! I think a lot of the hot dispositions were from a few of the original French bulls imported in the 70's and the fact that people kept keeping offspring and just dealing with it. I don't have any problems with calves out of my herd bulls or cows in...

    Aubrac cattle

Yup TJ, I totally agree the type of Angus makes a difference. That's what I'm raising and they work well in a commercial setting and in our composite/hybrid programs. Certainly the right fit for what I'm doing. Many of our crossbred Angus based cows are in the 1050 to 1150 weight range. You and...

    Troubadour son

I thought FREDDY might appreciate me sharing this pic. This is a coming 2 year-old Troubadour son out of an Angus cow from Fred Ranch, that we are using on Angus and Angus/Aubrac cows.

    Aubrac cattle

None taken! And I agree that "flat out" the Angus breed, either red or black compliments any breed used on them. I have tried many breeds in my composite/hybrid program as a base and Angus is the King! Unfortunately straight bred cattle (of any breed) cannot compete with the economic advantages...

    Aubrac cattle

Thanks for the nice comments. Now everyone can see why I don't get anywhere in this business, when I tell you what I don't like first! Honestly the Aubracs are a very unique breed. I started using them 6-7 years ago to add to my composite program. I have had around 800 Aubrac sired calves at...

    Aubrac cattle

Longer ago someone was asking about Aubrac cattle on here. I just thought I would post a pic of a typical Angus/Aubrac heifer calf from our program. The Aubracs are extremely forage efficient, but traditionally ugly and horned. We have a page of Aubrac Herd sires at www.fickecattle.com to find...

Does it make me an old timer if I remember when they started this ad???

    Rocky Balboa

Thanks so much for all of the great info! I spoke to my ABS rep this morning and he said there was some semen available. So I'm planning on using him on part and thinking about Simple Man on the rest of them...any thoughts on Simple Man?

    Rocky Balboa

Is Rocky Balboa a good choice to breed to Angus base heifers? What would some other options be? Thanks!
