    Which Simmi Bull?

Thanks! Im trying to decide who to flush my angus heifer to and her only flaw is a thicker neck and big brisket. My first choice was WC Loaded Up but he doesn't sex sort good so these two are my next options. Does P2B add any width and power?

Which Simmi bull is best at cleaning up front ends? Yardley High Regard or LLSF Pays to Believe?

    Mini Mane cattle.

If your looking for a mini this is the 2016 Supreme Champion Lowline bull. Calves come small but vigorous. Great for heifers. We have calved out about 20 heifers now and haven't helped a single one. The resulting halfblood calves grow to be good sized. Halfblood steers finish around 1200lbs. And...

We purchased her bred that way but I have called Jason Minnaert to order some last year.

    Broker daughters

I have a heck of a bandwagon heifer out of a broker/angus first calf heifer that is super big ribbed and wide bodied. He's not guaranteed calving ease but she was bred with sexed heifer semen. Definitely breeding the same way again. Also have 2 style bull calves out of a broker donor cow that...

    Lutalyse question

My beef repro professor in college always said it was ineffective until 5 days after heat.

    Determining ET calving date

We just had our last ET calf born the first if this week. The calf was and I-80 x pb simmi born 3 weeks over the due date. We have a fall angus recip that is always one of the last to calve, her record is 34 days over due. That calve was a 100lb heifer calf that had to be assisted. Every year I...

    Calf not nursing back quarters

We have had this happen almost every year on a couple of cows that produce a lot of milk. The calf just doesn't need the amount of milk the cow is producing. After about a week or so the calf will need more milk and start nursing the unused quarters. As Danieljeff said, let mother nature take...

    Led chute lights

Walmart has LED light bars for $20 a piece. Mine are very durable, however, I've never taken them to a show. 2 complaints about them are that they are round so it can be difficult to position correctly, and that they all have to be plugged into a different cord (or a 3way splitter works). I have...

Updated - Daily Hair Care Products

I will never use anything other than Showcoat products again! It is expensive but it takes very little to do A LOT of good! I don't follow the recommended process, like the shampoo because I've always liked clear choice but just a quick spray of Showcoat every day can make a a big difference in...

    Farmers Almanac "Best Days"

I always shear all the winter hair off on the best day of April because in Missouri it's usually cold until then. This is a good way to quickly get rid of the dead long hair and have a fresh start for summer.

    Best front-end/neck?

IMO Bandwagon won't help clean up fronts unless the cow is pretty clean. We have had 6 calves out of him and the ones that were improved were out of the cleaner fronted cows. He also adds more brisket that hangs lower. From calves I've seen Chopper seems to be the best PB but I have seen some...

    DIY Cattle Cooler questions

Misters and fans plus showcoat may be a better option and still grow decent hair. Coolers have to be watched carefully and can be expensive. IMO angus blood never equals lots of hair and simmi doesn't always help.

    When to dye a heifer

I have a simmental heifer that will be showing at the Royal that needs to be dyed. When do you normally dye them? A week ahead, two weeks? This is the first time I am doing this so I don't want to mess up. I'm using Prodye if that makes a difference. Thanks!

    Ivf question

The best thing to do is call the person or business that are doing the aspiration. When we set our donors up the vet always said it didn't matter when they were in heat because the fsh shots will develop more follicles to collect. There are always more follicles that are developing but with the...

    breaking donkey?

In my opinion, they are a great asset when you have a group of calves to break. A donkey won't drag the calves around, but simply pull against the calf until it learns to follow. The same technique of pull and release but a lifesaver for shoulders. The calf is tied to a collar that goes around...

    Bandwagon Calves?

I have calved 4 calves so far, 2 bulls and 2 heifers, that I'm very happy with. All had at least a little white on their faces and some blazes. They are more stout and square than the other Simmi calves, with good rib shape and structure. I also purchased a Bandwagon x Heatwave/Ali heifer last...
